Real History

The reasons we went to war in Iraq (by Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-NY))

I found this on Minnesota Craig's List, which I take it is the successor to Minnesota Fats?  Anyway, Mein Gott, but this intro is so wonderfully concise, and deadly.
The former press secretary and CL readers here keep forgetting the reasons and requesting that I re-post them when they could just go the Congressional Record or wikipedia and get them themselves. But I am happy to oblige as often as necessary.

Remember, only Congress can declare war and this war was supported by majorities in BOTH parties. It was particularly popular with the American people when it looked like the war would be easy but the reasons didn't change when the war became difficult.

What ever happened to the information minister? He had a great comedy act.

- The use of aggressive military force against a sovereign country is an act of war.
- Congress authorized the President to use US military force in an act of war.
- Congress, therefore, declared war.

They did not need to fill out a form with a checkbox [X]Declare War.

Either that, or it was Congress who violated the US Constitution by authorizing money for a war it did not declare.
