Katrina, Call Home
Livin' Large on the Liberal Plantation?
Governments do not make ideals, but ideals make governments. This is both historically and logically true. Of course the government can help to sustain ideals and can create institutions through which they can be the better observed, but their source by their very nature is in the people.

The people have to bear their own responsibilities. There is no method by which that burden can be shifted to the government. It is not the enactment, but the observance of laws, that creates the character of a nation.

Then who's supposed to wipe my ass?

That sign has to be photoshopped. I mean, otherwise that person would have to be too stupid to breathe.

Not so. She's obviously breathing. And if you'll remember, this was pretty much the battle cry of Minister Farrakhan, and the loony left..

Ack! Please Rodger! Stop destroying my carefully built up illusions that protect me from the hopelessness of realizing that people can really be that stupid and still vote.

I know, I know. You provide an invaluable service even if it makes me kick and scream a little.

Chances are, spelling the word homicide was a real challenge for her.

With the recent flooding here in S. Indiana it was nice to see that no one was shooting at the helicopters. No one was herded into a sports arena and left to die - or cannibalism, rape and mayhem. No real looting. People helped themselves and their neighbors until help arrived. The Governor had the State Guard and State Police activated before 10 am of THE FIRST DAY. Before the flooding had even come close to cresting. Cops weren't looting Wally World. Nor were they illegally going around and confiscating weapons from home owners. No, things pretty much worked as they were supposed to.

When an asshole FEMA bigshot told the Governor he couldn't deploy one of the emergency shelters the Gov pulled out his cell phone and called GWB directly at the White House and handed the phone to him and said "Here, tell him what you just told me." - Problem fixed.

Yep, just like in Nawlins, it did take several days for FEMA to get into the act. That's just how it's supposed to work. State and local resources THEN the feds. Amazingly, I saw no major news networks reporting about how well things were organized or deployed.
I did see some bitching about "The slow response of the Government and FEMA" right off the bat. Corksoakers.

I think she's a school teacher. Imagine what pledge her class says every morning
