How many times must it be said?

The stand-up comedy of  BRET STEPHENS
Al Gore gave a speech last week "challenging" America to run "on 100% zero-carbon electricity in 10 years" -- though that's just the first step on his road to "ending our reliance on carbon-based fuels." Serious people understand this is absurd. Maybe other people will start drawing the same conclusion about the man proposing it.

The former vice president has also recently disavowed any intention of returning to politics. This is wise. As America's leading peddler of both doom and salvation, Mr. Gore has moved beyond the constraints and obligations of reality. His job is to serve as a Prophet of Truth.

After his opening monologue Stephens, writing for the Wall Street Journal's GLOBAL VIEW, juxtaposes reality against Gore's advocacy. (Quick - name the last Democrat presidential nominee who wasn't a walking puff of air?)

A more interesting question is why Mr. Gore remains believable. Perhaps people think that facts ought not to count against a man whose task is to raise our sights, or play Cassandra to unbelieving mortals.

Like me, Stephens is unable to contemplate Gore without summoning Eric Hoffer.  His quotation from The True Believers, I feel, better  pertains  to the engineers of mass movements.-- the puppetmaster Hitlers, Lenins, and Soroses.  Al Gore has neither the vision, nor the brains.  No, his role is one of useful idiot. As a former vice-president, make that very useful, but still a sorry-ass who, without any, is looking for self-esteem.

By the bye,  Moonbattery has two excellent posts on the subject

Exactly Rodger. Gore is just a useful idiot for the Marxists out there who want to (re)instate Communism by replacing "the people" with "the Earth".

Over at SondraK's blog, Hog Whitman recently said that we've reached a "tipping point" with global warming. By "tipping point", he meant we'd reached that point where everything either causes global warming, or is caused by it.

I'm starting to think he's right. The global warming cultists have really become that unhinged. For example...

It would be tough for Hog to be more profound than he was here.

I'm gonna have to sue algore for using all those carbon credits. We've had 2 days with temps over 60 degrees here in the banana belt of South Central Alaska.Last couple a days has been 50 degrees and rain, constant fricken rain and cold. It is normally 65-70 degrees here now.
