Bang Bang

Kids, Guns, tragedy, and stupidity
Chrissie sent me this video of a very stupid man learning just how stupid he is. It coincidentally arrived just moments after MoSup showed me this very  tragic story in the local rag.

Charges possible in boy's Uzi death

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Authorities in Massachusetts are considering whether criminal charges should be filed in the death of an 8-year-old boy who accidentally shot himself with an Uzi submachine gun at a gun show.

Hampden County District Attorney William Bennett said yesterday he hasn't been able to find any law that would authorize a child to possess or fire a machine gun.

Christopher Bizilj of Ashford, Conn., died Sunday.

The DA " hasn't been able to find any law that would authorize a child to possess or fire a machine gun.?"  How about he focuses on laws that prohibited it.  Or better yet, how about finding out how it happened, and making sure proper safety practices are instituted before the next gun show?

Holy F**kup. I'm speechless and that just doesn't happen to me. Just wow. I'm guessing this is going to the Darwin Award committee isn't it?

LAWS??! We don't need any more gun laws.
What as lacking was common sense.
Thousands of kids soot guns muzzle loaders, bolt actions and even full auto, under supervision & with proper training.
Obviously, it was absent in this case.

I can think of several laws here that apply Reckless endangerment, Man slaughter, endangering a minor,Child abuse, (were are the parents)Failure to secure a weapon properly at gun show or public gun display, Just to name a few I am sure there are 100's more lets inforce the ones we have.I am sure you law enforcement guys can expand this list.

That worked out about as best as can be hoped for when idiots use guns as party noise makers.

The first thing that crossed my mind when I read about the child with the Uzi (apart from the moment of grief over the death of a child) was "I wonder how long it will take before some idiot says we gotta get handguns off the streets."

The funeral mass for Chris is tonight. It was a horrible accident involving a mini uzi. His father, an emergency room physican, was standing next to him and a range officer was behind him .I believe he had his arm on the boys shoulder. Muzzle flip.

I cannot imagine any safer set up or proceedures than were in effect at the machine gun shoot / gun show. Law enforcement, on and off duty, fire dept., paramedics, were all present. This is an annual event and as far as I know the first accident or injury to occur.

Second guessing the wisdom of allowing an eight year old....there is no reason to go there.
