Burning villages

Kelo  on steroids?

US cities may have to be bulldozed in order to survive

"Much of the land will be given back to nature. People will enjoy living near a forest or meadow," he said.

I wish I had that picture /span> back, from previous post, but spilt milk now.  Anyway, it's reported by the Times (London) that the Jack Boot of the Obamacy is ready for some more stomping.
Dozens of US cities may have entire neighborhoods bulldozed as part of drastic "shrink to survive" proposals being considered by the Obama administration to tackle economic decline.

Kelo popped into mind because, when this idea was being discussed by the Bilderbergers, it prolly began with "Take Kelo ... ." Of course this isn't Kelo, where gummint assumed the right to take my private property and sell it to you,  but the hubris is there.  No, this is more Vietnam Era "We had to burn the village to save it" think.  There's  some merit in the idea, but the jackboot appears in the form of the federals. .

The US government is looking at expanding a pioneering scheme in Flint, one of the poorest US cities, which involves razing entire districts and returning the land to nature

To quote the London Banker somewhat out of context -- "There is no free market when the government owns the actors and sets the terms of transactions.  There is no village once it has been burned to the ground."

A final thought - Baltimore is one of the cities on the bulldozable list.  Hmmm.  Would that be a Bob Irsay style bulldozing -- in the middle of the night?  Where democrats and apparatchiks suffer most?  Hmmm.

Here's my idea for a neighborhood that they may want to bulldoze.....First..Renovate the buildings to make them livable and then turn them into affordable (based on income) senior citizen housing....Consider the benefits..1. A neighborhood restored and of value...2. The residents are very likely to take care of the property (no damage through neglect or malicious mischief like low income housing)...3.Convenience for the delivery of "Meals On Wheels", prescriptions or anything else needed by the seniors and also for maintenance and groundskeeping....4.A decent, clean area is likely to attract other assets and neighbors....5. Medical and service or recreation providers could be located near or in the neighborhood....6. Housing would remain in use for seniors as long as feasible (see below) and turned over to new tenants as required.....This could be expanded as surrounding areas or other towns may have seniors who find this arrangement attractive..........As the neighborhood is pacified and stabilized, new areas could be put into the plan and these could be sold into the general market at I would think, a premium value.....I like it already..A drug and crime ridden slum turns into cleanliness, grass & flowers, picket fences, and civilized people....Sounds so old fashioned American I'm ready to move in.

The land is valueless because it is afflicted by an insane local government.

Get rid of ( disincorporate ) the insane local government, and put the abandoned property up on ebay for $1 per lot with no reserve.

Allow the new owners to use deadly force to remove squatters.

Things will be put aright pretty damned quickly at zero cost to the taxpayers.

Have you seen the cities on the list to be dozed? Detroit, Baltimore, Philly. As my sweet and intelligent wife says, "You can't say it wouldn't help..."
