Clinton's continual use of "Mister" in lieu of "President Bush" was a
calculated slight, and it irritated a lot of people. When questioned
about it, Slick, in his best Mussolini posture, explained that Mister was
an allowable form of address, and he'd continue to use it. Same here.
"You can never go wrong by using 'Sir' or 'Ma'am,' but it is a nice touch if you
can properly address a senior officer," says the guide, Military Protocol: Uniformed Services. "
