Hey Bitch!

Madame Boxer

During a terse exchange, as Boxer pressed Walsh on why the levees in New Orleans are still not repaired nearly four years after Hurricane Katrina, she said to Walsh:

"Could you say 'senator' instead of 'ma'am? It's just a thing. I worked so hard to get that title. I'd appreciate it."
Let's go back to 1992, the President Bush- Bill Clinton debates - just a sample.

LEHRER: Governor, is that true?

CLINTON: Mr. Bush's Bureau of Labor Statistics says that Arkansas ranks first in the country in the growth of new jobs this year, first.

Clinton's continual use of "Mister" in lieu of "President Bush" was a calculated slight, and it irritated a lot of people.  When questioned about it, Slick, in his best Mussolini posture, explained that Mister was an allowable form of address, and he'd continue to use it. Same here.

"You can never go wrong by using 'Sir' or 'Ma'am,' but it is a nice touch if you can properly address a senior officer," says the guide, Military Protocol: Uniformed Services. "

Who would have stood up and cheered if Walsh had replied "You may have worked so hard to get the title, but what have you done to deserve it?"

Too bad most of our uniformed officers are too polite to stoop to such tactics, at least in front of witnesses.

It's Brigader General, MAM! And I actually worked for it unlike you senators who simply win elections.

I noticed she didn't have the common courtesy to address him as General, Brigadier General, sir, or even call him by his name. She used no title or honorific.

What does that mean?

It means he is nothing to her.

I didn’t spend six years in Evil Senator School to become “Ma’am,” thank you very much.
