I've said before that before Soetoro is through every one will have a million buck in their bank account, but that a loaf of bread will cost a million five. It appears it will happen faster then expected.
According to Treaury Dept.(wade through the numbers here: http://fms.treas.gov/mts/mts0609.txt), 2nd quarter 2009 tax revenue is down 31.9% compared to 2nd quarter 2008.

At Drudge:
Agriculture Sec. Vilsack: 'Purchased 760,000 Lbs of ham at cost of approximately $1.50 per pound'...
FOOD LION: $.79 Lb...
HA! Just brilliant.
I can't stand it any more. Jeremy, please learn the difference between the words 'then' and 'than'. It isn't that hard.
Then: At then time, at that point.
We went out to eat and then we took in a movie.
Than: Used when comparing two things.
My dog's bigger than your dog.
Lots of people confuse these words these days, even so-called professionals. It's one of those things they just don't teach anymore, I guess, like American History.

Oops! It should have been, "Then: At that time, at that point."
The Preview button is your friend but it doesn't help much when you can't read. =0p

Rodge. It's not supposed to happen. I shouldn't be laughing more at the main news (In Defense of Ham!) on the Drudge Report than your blog on C&S. It's certainly a sad state of affairs for our country.

Better said then done, I allus say.
GFC, I'm Dyslexic. the area I'm hit most at is spelling. Sorry if it drives you crazy, Maybe I can send flowers to the hospital when you get locked up. often times I choose words based on ability to spell them. Then and than is a problem because they both are words. Just be glad I don't spell like some of the people who text me.
Speaking of purchasing, I always liked the idea proposed about 40 years ago, that Supply could be a separate branch of the military, and would do all the supplying for all the military organizations. So many goods and services are the same that much duplication could, no doubt, be eliminated....Yes, I am sure there would need to be some bugs worked out for a few years, but I am convinced that it would save billions of tax dollars in savings on purchases and distribution.....At the time I read about this proposal, there was an article which indicated that the U.S.Army was in process of having 30,000 crates of oranges shipped from Florida to the west coast, simultaneously, the U.S.Navy was shipping 20,000 crates from California to the east coast.....Also in the article was mention that the U.S.Navy had on hand, at the then rate of consumption, enough hamburger to meet the the demand of the next 69 years, along with many other examples of waste....Without a doubt much of that hamburger would end up in a dump someplace...I think this old idea should be revisited for another look.
JMcD,
My brother was in a transportation reserve unit. He routinely got called for extra time to drive when they had volunteer missions. One Friday, he got called to go to Fargo NoDak and pick up a load. He was to transporet it to San Antonio Texas and drop it at Lackland Air Force Base.
When he got there, the load, whhich was potatos, was off loaded to an Air Force civilian contract hauler. As the transfer was being made, my brother asked aboutthe final destination. Minot North Dakota was the answer.
