this is obviously not my original idea, the picture did set me to
wondering what a copper floor made from pennies would cost. At
¾" diameter, it will take 256 to make a sq.ft, or $2.56.* 
Even less if the pennies are positioned, as in the picture, with
several CHs distance betwixt.  I think the best way to apply them
would be to make a square foot form, and pack it with pennies over a
square of paper.  Dust with grout and water.  When dried
you'll have a sq.ft. sheet of pennies.  By way of comparison,
marble tile like this will run you $9.49/Sq. Ft.  May also be used for kitchen counters, desktops, even roofs.
