Believe me Rodger I'm with you. However many, including a great number on "our side", don't believe it. Why?
The 1984 movie Red Dawn depicts a Soviet takeover of America and the resulting resistance movement that results.
To many, this is the ONLY way America could become Marxist (in any of its political forms). That is they believe an ARMED takeover is the required course.
I believe, as did the Soviets (ex-KBG interviews etc), that this is NOT the way to accomplish it. Small steps, over a long period of time, WILL get you there if the people aren't vigilant.
Those steps have been taking place, over a many decades, and Obama is trying to "close the deal". I see it as do a few others. However since there's not tanks in the streets (yet) others don't (or don't want to).
I hope, for all our sakes, that people wake up.
I used to work at the Naval Research Lab in Washington, DC. I caught the bus to the lab in front of FEMA HQ. They had a bulletin board where they posted their latest regulations. They were always "FEMA personnel can commandeer any vehicle they require" type regs. I started wondering about them after a while.
Turing word: "pophanke". Is that a South Park reference?
Rodger: as i noted over at SondraK's this ain't nothing to get pantie wadded about.

I disagree ... watch the videos, or do your own independent research on FEMA, and Obama's history. The recruiting ad? A message from God.
National Guard units are still creatures of state governments, even though they can be federalized.
Enough bad press, and we can get State Governors to demand that their State NG units contain no “Internment/resettlement specialists”.
If they feds threaten federalization, the States can threaten replacement with a state militia.
This works ... The Bush admin tried to close the Portland Oregon ANG base for lack of cooperation by the Oregon Dem. Governor with nuke attack prep drills. So the Governor threatened to make the Oregon ANG the Oregon state air militia.
The feds cut a deal ... they removed the share of aircraft they paid for with fed funds, and left the percentage the state paid for. The ANG is still running, but belongs to the State of Oregon.
Every time the feds want to scramble Oregon state owned aircraft to intercept drug runners, they get a whopping bill for it.
That's a great story ... a double edged sword, but quite proper.
Neither AR 210-35 nor the Guard ad for corrections officers are anything to get in a twist over. Corrections officers in the Army are military police officers and hold the military occupational specialty (MOS) 31E. MP units in the guard and reserves may be designated as PW units and the need for corrections officer to man these positions is a given. As for the regulation, it was written in the 90's, if not earlier, and it prescribes how to use "free," non-military prison labor.
Never ascribe to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity-or bureaucracy.
