Well, I suppose that's true in SOME world.
To discourage prostitution, their hair would be shaved to make them easily identifiable. (That IS contol, isn't it?)
So that whores would not feel uncomfortable coming to Church, all women wore hair covering.
Don't paint Christian culture with the same brush as Islamic culture...
We don't sever heads either. -

Some have taken that a step further and said if she should be coverd when she prays, then why not all the time?
Others believe that hair is a sexual thing and should be covered for modesty purposes much like necklines and hemlines.
Also verse 6
"For if the woman be not covered, let her also be shorn: but if it be a ashame for a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her be covered." -

Anon: Give the Christian crowd the credit they deserve. They haven't had a church sanctified murder since some Scots Calvinists caught up with a supposed witch in 1790.
