Typically in pairs, the up-escalator is to the right, as here.

Second, the toddler warning sticker is more likely to be pasted where people see it as they get on, not as they exit.

So Holmes tells me it's going up toward the people we see in the background.

Watson suggests that a toddler warning also makes sense for an exit, but there is no warning visible at the top, which is even more dangerous for a toddler.
