If it were not for Chicago, Springfield, Rockford, and Peoria, Illinois would be a solid Red State. For the most part if you cut off the State north of I-80/88, we would be a lot different politically speaking then we are now.
For the most part our political fate is sealed. Both parties here are all but totally corrupted, in one way or another. Look at the former governors residing (or having resided) in prison. They come from both parties.
The end result is we are 12 BILLION dollars in debt, with no real end in sight (lots of talk-no action). And don't even get me started on the FOID card!! - 4/18/10, 11:11 AM

I don't know who they're polling in NJ, unless it's only college "students" and inner city folks, but there's more anti-Obama sentiment than pro around the Garden State from what I can see.

Although things are getting worse, if it wasn't for NYC the STATE of New York would be republican. When someone mentions "upstate" New York they are talking about anything outside of the city.

Ohio is looking pretty good: Portman for Senator (replacing crying Voinovich) and Kasich for Governor. Plus the utterings of the pro-Obama folks have been turning into mutterings of late, at least in my crowd.
