At West Point, Obama
Embraces Carter Doctrine

Boned Jello
(AFP OUT) U.S. President Barack Obama shakes hands with Col. Jacqueline D. Van Ovost, commander, 89th Airlift Wing, Andrews Air Force Base after arriving at Andrews Air Force Base May 22, 2010 in Camp Springs, Maryland. Obama traveled to West Point, NY to deliver the commencement to address to the graduates of the U.S. Military Academy. (May 21, 2010 -

The poseur-in-chief:
  • offered a glimpse of a new national security doctrine that distances his administration from George W. Bush's policy of preemptive war, emphasizing global institutions and America's role in promoting democratic values. (the two being mutually exclusive in his world).
  • The international order we seek is one that can resolve the challenges of our times ... (take the UN for example)
  • (sotto voice) "are these guys armed? "
  • "Countering violent extremism and insurgency; stopping the spread of nuclear weapons and securing nuclear materials; combating a changing climate and sustaining global growth; helping countries feed themselves and care for their sick; preventing conflict and healing its wounds."(reading from the Welcome Wagon Hostess Guide)
  • He also took note of the fact that the class's top two graduates are women, (which goes to things I won't get into)
When my kid graduated law school, the address was delivered by Jesse Jackson.  Sitting that close, and enduring his prattle for an hour - without drawing attention to myself - was pretty hard.   The only way I could have gotten through this deal,  is pretend it was a NASCAR event - hoping there would be no horrible crash into that grandstand.

That colonel looks like some high school kid playing dress-up in her father's uniform...
And I'd love to get a reading on the fruit salad she's wearing.

As for the awards and decorations:
MAJOR AWARDS AND DECORATIONS
Defense Superior Service Medal
Bronze Star
Meritorious Service Medal with three oak leaf clusters
Air Medal
Aerial Achievement Medal
Joint Service Commendation Medal
Air Force Commendation Medal

Let's just mock Mr. Obama and leave the serving military alone, OK?

She seems a little too pleased to make the man’s acquaintance. Hussein seems as condescending as usual but uncharacteristically chummy with the woman, hand delicately placed around her back high up on her shoulder. He's probably getting set to close the base. It is in Texas you know.

Thank you LDG...
Now may we see Obanana's educational achievements and awards?

LDG...Excellent points, and well done sir. However, the Colonel's military bearing here, you must admit, is not the stuff of recruiting posters.

JMcD said...

Certainly not me, but there are those who would call Senior Obanana's mien, sexist.

Just curious, but shouldn't the Colonel be wearing latex gloves as some sort of prophylaxis?

Furthermore, why didn't he bow?

Oh sure, the OIC has lots of awards, as officers will. But could she rise to the true meddle of a pilot and hold her own at Tailhook? Not likely she would cut the mustard in VMFP-3. Semper Fi and Phantoms Phorever.

You tell her anon. BTW, those are all bullshit medals, not a V in the crowd, and I'll bet dollars to doughnuts that Chuck Yeager never went to one of those cookie-pushing schools.

One thing though, she'll never disobey an order. The real guys know when to exercise judgment.

Casca,

What makes them bullshit medals? Do you know WHY she was awarded them? Obviously, someone thought she did her job pretty damned well.

Not everyone gets put in situations where a "V" device is warranted, but everyone who serves, does so voluntarily. And she has committed her entire adult life to service to her country. Is that worthy of your scorn?

As for cookie pushing, did you see the whole "USAF Test Pilot School?" Or did you miss the big, shiny senior aviator wings on top of her awards and decorations?
Not everyone goes to be a test pilot. Yeager was a test pilot, come to think of it. She also has MULTIPLE Advanced degrees, and not to garner more income, just to increase her professional knowledge.

But you manage to distill her 22 years of service into whether or not her Bronze Star (an award that can be only be given in a combat zone) has a "V" device. For your edification, Bronze Stars are awarded for service at a certain level of responsibility in a combat zone, while the "V" device is awarded for valor in a particular instance in a combat zone. Same medal, two different circumstances for the award. I suppose you think that since my Bronze star doesn't have a "V" that it has no meaning, too.

You're absolutely right. She is, after all, a woman. Prolly only got promoted on her back or on EO complaints. Maybe she's honored to meet her Commander In Chief, and respectful of him for that reason, and can cast aside her personal political beliefs when she puts on the uniform.

You know Jack Shit about her, her sacrifices, her politics, or her achievements outside of her official bio. Maybe you should direct your hate at the tall guy in the picture who would never put his hands on a male colonel that way.

It's not hate chuckles, just a firm grasp of reality. Aside from campaign medals, and personal awards for valor, everything else is bullshit. No, I'm sure she didn't have to get on her back, or complain about the boys to get ahead. The noxious hypocrisy of "equal rights" is that it isn't equal performance. Nevermind that she looks ridiculous, I've yet to meet a woman in uniform who could carry the water of a mediocre male peer. That's one of those truths, that nobody dares speak.

That's nice, that they have a split-tail spot at test pilot school. War is a male vocation. The masculine virtues are requisite. To not realize this, is to be a fool.

BTW, I don't mind hurting your precious feelings, so I'll tell you the truth. Your Bronze Star with no V is bullshit. If you're an officer, you should be embarrassed.

Do you think Ovomit actually owns a tie and knows how to use it? He looks like he's attending a fundraising event.

Didn't mean to start a war here, OTH I make it a minimum of 28 bars that she is wearing... and except for maybe the Bronze star, the others that are listed are pretty much show-up medals.
And my original point still stands.
