Thank you, Rodge. The was an eye-opener.

Winter before last, we spent 10 days walking around D.C. Never found time for the Capitol, due to the Congressional stank, and a real concern that a F2F with Leahy might make me do something stupid.

I see now that was a mistake, which we will surely correct on our next visit.

The Northwest Ordinance of 1787 predated the Constitution but was the framework for over 70 years by which territories could become states. It stated that morality and religion were to be taught in schools and that these schools were to be supported by lands and monies set aside when surveying the townships in said territories.

"Religion, morality, and knowledge, being necessary to good government and the happiness of mankind, schools and the means of education shall forever be encouraged."

Sorry about the video, but I can tell you a story. No more nightmares for Leahy—just like Jeffords, he has descended into senility. However …

Long ago when I lived in Montpelier, we crossed paths. It's impossible to find a good restaurant in central Vermont, so I took Mother way out to the Common Man in Waitsfield. (Ski resort town.)

After a lovely dinner, we were walking toward the door when she saw my eyes widen and nostrils flair. There may have been a low growl—I can't be sure. It was Paddy, seated right on the aisle, and looking Trouble right in the face. I was all set to accidentally knock his chablis into his lap.

Mother clamped onto my arm and led me round the other way to the car. And drove.

Decades later, she left me a home in Sarasota. Now Kate Harris is my neighbor. Mother has always been my angel.

I have been introduced to David Barton through Glenn Beck. It was a fortuitous meeting indeed. This man is a Godsend to a weary world. He makes the history of our country come alive and his knowledge of it just astounds me. He has a firm grasp of the Bible and its importance to our Founding Fathers AND our Constitution. Whatever did we do without men like David Barton?
