Lord knows Emmett Tyrrell walks with angels, and Drudge certainly does get carried away at times, but I see this as having everything to do with "how far are we willing to go?" We're way past the slippery slope here. I'm going with Ann on this one.

Yes, I agree Rodge, but I don't guess we'll ever start profiling those scum so meanwhile we have to do all we can to keep from "dying while flying".

Pardon Me, but EL AL solved THIS 40 YEARS AGO- with zero failures...
they interview everyone with their luggage BEFORE they can buy a ticket.
It saves time, because they can quickly process the normal travelers. and it saves lives & is proven effective for 40 years.

Nothing I have to say is intended to even come close to defend the TSA, Napolitano or any of the rest of the get naked, display your junk to ride an airplane crowd, but we have more flights processed in 5 minutes in this country then EL AL processes all damned day. We have more planes lined up for take off at Atlanta's airport on any given morning than the nation of Israel will process on any given day.
We just need to make racist rules that make sense. No sand crabs fly, ever without a complete internal and external inspection of their body's and luggage.
We really do not have to be nice to those people.

Chuck, you are right; too many flights to secure and we can't secure the border, or win against the Japs & Nazis in WWII or anything else that we as a nation really want to do...
I would posit that a 2 minute interview takes less time than the move behind the screen and getting groped option.
No argument on the profiling, it is ridiculous not to do so.

Chuck: It isn't that the airlines can't do background checks ... it's that they don't want to.
They cost money. And they might cause lawsuits.
The repair here is really simple: Exclude airline seats provision from any kind of protected class lawsuits, and make airlines and insurance companies fully pay for any damages caused by terrorists that get aboard. - 11/18/10, 3:02 PM

Anne's post noted 'everyone except government officials and members of Congress' would undergo the inspection.
Why should they be exempt? Why is the employee ordering the employer around? We have this backwards, and they should be made aware we will not tolerate their self-appointed status as overlord. They work for us.
