It reminds me of those willing to cede their seventh amendment rights.

Here's the fact on the scanner-from Michael Fumanto.
You get exactly the same kind and amount of radiation from 1 pass through as flying at altitude for 2 minutes. Or from walking around on the ground for 10 minutes, probably less here in CO because of our higher elevation. It's NBD. I flew to Australia last year, it was 15(?) hours from San Fran at altitude and I still only have 5 fingers on each hand.
I don't see any connection at all between giving up your right to a trial by jury to agreeing to a harmless body scan to board an airplane.
Sheesh

The fourth amendment does not deal with ionizing radiation units. It deals with unreasonable searches and seizures.
The question you have to ask yourself is whether some low-level governmental functionary electronically viewing your naked body or squeezing your genitals without benefit of a search or arrest warrant is "reasonable".
Some people take the Bill of Rights seriously. I do. - 11/23/10, 9:59 AM

Obama's election and Santelli's rant awoke a sleeping giant, the productive, who, until that time were busy making enough money to provide for their family (and the 47% of deadbeats who don't pay taxes) I think the more body scans & intrusive unconstitutional pat downs, the more Tea Party members they create.
Bring it. - 11/23/10, 10:18 AM

The purpose of the TSA is to teach you that you are powerless before your own government.
and, we are. - 11/23/10, 11:17 AM

So what is it, the 4th or the 7th? Now it's the fourth, OK. Been to a ball game lately? At Coors Field, if you bring a back pack in or are wearing a fannie pack, it gets searched or you don't get in. Period.
I haven't seen any signs about my 7th amendment rights being violated. BTW doesn't the 7th mean no unreasonable search and seizures "in your home" Because I believe the police can stop you with reasonable cause on the street-it's happened to me.
If you don't want to walk through the scanner, then you don't fly. Seems simple to me and to infer I don't take the Bill of Rights seriously because I don't have the same tin foil on that you apparently do is bs. Where were you years ago when they started scanning for metal at airports? What's the difference? There isn't one. It's NBD and it's voluntary. Absolutely no comparison to police entering your home without a warrant or your permission.
Now that's not to say I think this is effective. When a few planes go down because terrorists are using that undetectable explosive tucked into their rectum. then what? Beats me but in the meantime, if they want me walk through their pointless scanner to fly, I will

What is really disgusting is that everyone, I mean EVERYONE is tiptoing around the fact this trouble
is caused by muslims and muslims alone, with the intention to avoiding
the next task at hand that is that we need to de-nazify america again and expel all that hell's spawn.
After 9/11, the Chineses had the right idea by refusing to board
ANYONE with muslim dress or even a muslim name.
You know, any creep with "Hussein" on his passport,
or something like "Abd", which mean "SLAVE"!!!
'Till then, conquering islam is still on a roll! - 11/23/10, 12:02 PM

No, the seventh amendment deals with the right to a jury trial in civil cases.
The fourth amendment isn't limited to just the home. "The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated . . . ." It doesn't matter who you are or where you are. It includes Newark Liberty International.
There is a fundamental right to travel in the United States. It's been recognized by the courts since the 1800s. It's another right I'm not willing to give up. How about you? - 11/23/10, 12:39 PM

I recall some old dead guy saying
"Those who would give up Essential Liberty to purchase a little Temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety."
I agree. - 11/23/10, 1:40 PM

If you read it again, it says that it "reminds" him of the seventh, which means it reminds him of those willing to give up a jury by trial.
It truly is the 4th but it could have links to others as those that are too willing to give up their rights dont deserve them. imo - 11/23/10, 3:14 PM

Thanks Anon. I thought he would be able to figure that comparison out for himself. I was wrong.
I keep telling people they are making serious mistakes when they want someone else to surrender important constitutional rights for what they perceive to be the "common good". Those people are merely deceiving themselves if they think it will become a better country if there aren't any guns, civil jury trials, or limits on searches and seizures. - 11/23/10, 6:29 PM
