Actually, before there was texting, there was military radio language; e.g. Roger, I hear and understand, Wilco, will comply, and the ever popular Whiskey Tango Foxtrot over.

I'll always remember watching Flight of the Intruder with Casca II, and at the end where the downed protagonist is laying in the rice paddy shot up and surrounded by the gooners, he calls his compadres' strike on himself signing off Alpha Michael Foxtrot. Casca II asks, "what's that mean dad?" I replied, "Adios, motherfucker." He liked that.
