scream-of-consciousness; "If you're trying to change minds and influence people it's probably not a good idea to say that virtually all elected Democrats are liars, but what the hell."

He knows no other way to resolve dispute, fix problems, establish order except through either threat, rhetoric, or appeasement. And since he hasn’t the courage to threaten Islamic nations bent on destroying the only reliable ally the US has in the ME, our unAmerican Talker-in-Chief goes with appeasement to placate the disturbed and outraged minds of unemployed barbarians whose favorite outdoor sports are stoning and amputation.
This line sums up the article perfectly for me: “. . . eager to speak softly and carry small convictions made of strawberry Jell-O.” Oh,Bullshit knows how to threaten his political enemies and appreciates the value of rhetoric in dealing with swooning liberals whose CPU input circuits were fried long ago by repeated overloads of Bushbashing.
But as he has been quoted as saying, “when the winds turn in an ugly direction, I’ll side with Islam,” so his fallback strategy HAS to be appeasement a la Chamberlain in the firm belief that megalomaniacs can be reasoned with and they’ll cut him some slack anyway because they all know that secretly he’s Muslim and pretending to be Christian while he sabotages the US economy and government so that their holy warriors can finally slay the Great Satan.
Nothing in his early childhood development, not his schooling, not his culture, not his family, and certainly not his religion ever instilled anything in his nature that would prompt him to speak for the typical American, that rube he characterized as gun-loving and Bible-toting. For him to defend Israel in any fashion simply goes against all that he ever believed in: it’s not Muslim, it’s not African, and it can’t vote for him.
I’m sure that deep down in his logic is the fallback position that were it not for the existence of Israel, the Arab nations would be quite content and passive. He’d much rather devote his time to redistribution of wealth and promotion of European indecision and pathos than answering questions about the recent Muslim uprisings or his catastrophic failures of judgment with bin Mubarak, Qaddafi, and bin Laden.
What we have is an amateurish CO on the bridge of the ship of state, one who cannot work the communications suite, does not understand the weapons systems, has no idea what the radar screen is telling him, could not read a chart if his life depended upon it, fails to listen to his junior officers, and is running short on fuel. The administrative office is on fire, the Chiefs Mess is in revolt, and the mess hall has been closed off and redesigned as a chipping/putting green, and the collecting and holding tanks are overflowing.
The question is not whether it will run aground, but where. Without some critical personnel changes in his wardroom and if food and fuel aren’t replenished soon, that where is likely to be Shanghai harbor. - 5/19/11, 8:24 PM

if I may add: ...and the warship of State is now navigating very perilous waters yet this brevet-captain thinks he was brilliant when he once sailed through the Sea of Tranquility as a fantail-lookout-community organizer on a cruise ship.

This is a paraphrase, not a quote, and I forget if it came from the WH or Foggy Bottom:
"We'll go to Israel, Jerusalem, and the West Bank."
Couple such ignorance with the immediacy we allowed Mubarek to fall under the bus, and no wonder Bibi is sweating bullets.
The meme of last month was "History may not repeat, but it rhymes". Ostensibly by Twain. Ok. Meantime, the events of 1948 and 1973 are being relooked at by many of the Hebrew Nation. Good luck folks, you know that Europe toothlessly mouths "Never again" as they turn their collective backsides, five times a day, toward Mecca, and the Obambis are nothing if not EuroElite wannabes.
The Mideast is going nuclear in my lifetime. Carter is an evil American. I voted for Ford. - 5/20/11, 12:23 AM

When South Park first attempted to show Muhammad, the network censored it, claiming it was "because they're religiously tolerant"
"No you're not," Matt Stone retorted. "You're afraid of getting blown up. That's what you're afraid of. Comedy Central copped to that, you know: 'We're afraid of getting blown up.'"
And Comedy Central speaks for American liberals in all matters. That's knowledge that may be put to use by others as well. - 5/20/11, 8:31 AM
