Close the damned Hatch!

Tea Partiers storm GOP committee office
That sounds so good that I don't much care why.
Okay, here's why. The GOP endorsed Orrin Hatch for reelection.

Close the Damn Hatch
Hatch is kind of Utah's equivalent of Arizona's John McCain.  Or a crooked cop.  Around the time Hillary Clinton accidentally came into possession of all those raw FBI files (on every Republican of note), Orrin went from bellwether conservative to Ted Kennedy's BFF. I'm just sayin'.  One of Janet Reno's first actions as Clinton's AG was announcing that the DOJ would not be continuing  its investigation of Hatch's involvement in BCCI.  I'm just sayin'

Since the establishment GOP is suddenly so enamored with former Gov. John Huntsman, perhaps this would be a good place for him?  Just sayin'.

I don't much like him anymore but George Will had a line when he put down Huntsman, "He's the candidate for people who don't like Republicans."

Orrin "smooooch" Hatch

There's lots of early rumblings on the radar for the Pres election, but IMHO, the Senate is more important. A few Dems, a few RINO's and Collins and Snowe gotta go. That will insure the right kind of SCOTUS, Federal judges, pass on any budgets the House throws out there, passes on any defunding of agencies, and keeps the option of impeachment if Uhbama steals his way to another term.

Hatch ought to be toast this year. Last time around, he almost didn't make it out of the convention. I think he learned his lesson, even if poorly. After that, he tried to have the rules for the mass meetings changed to exclude all but the party hacks. That did not set well with conservatives here but did bump up registered Repub numbers.
This time he is hoping to fire us up by emphasizing his importance as a senator with seniority. Truth is, that if he were an effective conservative force, we would have noticed it already. Last time he was bleating to the rubes who would vote for him that we need a constitutional amendment to prevent desecration of the flag. Heard much of that lately? This time the bloody shirt is the need for a balanced budget. I hope this issue has legs but I wouldn't expect to hear much from Orrin about it after about the second Wednesday of November. I think that he knows the issues but considers them as means to getting elected rather than as goals. Time to go.

Even with the RINOs gone, do you really think the stupid party will put up any real fight against another sotomayer? Unfortunately they don't have the balls to do it. Hell, they would feign objection to stalin or lenin getting on the big bench but would still confirm in the end.

Well said Irish. Backbone is a unknown substance in the Rino party. Or even the tea party half if it took power and it came to the rub. Its just hard to say no to the socialist agenda when by saying no you are saying no social programs etc. People dont want to lose their entitlements, and they will vote that way. Best thing to do is keep the issues on something else.

Hatch wants a flag-burning amendment? You got me started...
I clearly remember spring 2003, after the Republicans increased their hold on the Senate (aside from being stabbed in the back by Jeffords [P-VT]) hearing a speech on the news: a Senator holding forth on a flag-burning amendment.
There we were, in the middle of a f***ing war, fighting jihadis abroad and leftists at home, and a Senator thought it a worthy use of our time to speechify about a FLAG-BURNING amendment.
Yes, I'm still disgusted, why do you ask?
