TEA PARTY Wing of USA

"You would think that the people who have been plotting this big takeover of leadership for months and months or years, you would at least have a plan to move forward," said Rep. Devin Nunes (R., Calif.).

Exposed: Why Boehner And The GOP Want To Kill The Tea Party…

What is now called the Tea Party began in 2007
as a loosely-organized yet highly-motivated grassroots
support effort for Congressman Ron Paul’s bid for the
White House. Since those early days, a lot has happened
 to the Tea Party.

Republican leaders such as John Boehner, John McCain, Lindsey Graham, Peter King, etc. have made it one of their missions in life to defeat Republican Tea Party candidates–even if those candidates are incumbents. This is for good reason: the establishment Republican Party is diametrically opposed to the goals and principles of the Tea Party.

Based on the positions of most Tea Party candidates (which is all we have to go on as the Tea Party is not a real political party but only a grassroots activist effort being conducted mainly within the Republican Party), the goals and objectives of the Tea Party can be summarized generally as follows:

*They support a non-interventionist foreign policy.
*They support the Constitution and recognize the current attacks against the Constitution, especially against the Second, Fourth, and Tenth Amendments.
*They oppose the NSA spying on the American citizenry (including the use of drones for such purposes).
*They oppose the Patriot Act and the militarization of the Department of Homeland Security as well as local and State law enforcement agencies.
*They oppose the Import-Export Bank.
*They oppose the Federal Reserve Bank.
*They oppose CISPA.
*They oppose the indefinite detention provision of the NDAA.
*They support ending the 2001 Authorization for the Use of Military Force (AUMF).
*They support limited government spending–especially at the federal level.

One can easily see that many, if not most, of these goals and objectives are diametrically opposite the goals and objectives of the establishment Republican machine. And more than anything else, the Republican leadership in Washington, D.C. wants GOP congressmen and senators to be “team players.” Of course, by “team players,” they mean good little Republican robots that will not buck party leadership.

Karl Rove has repeatedly lambasted Justin Amash. House Speaker Boehner has spearheaded well-financed opposition to Amash’s reelection campaign this year. Senator John McCain (the GOP standard bearer in 2008) recently called Amash, Paul, and Cruz “wacko birds.”
Huh? I feel like I just read an account of how I met my wife that began: "He met his wife MoSup—a Korean/Navajo Peta activist—during an elephant hunt on the Serengeti in 2001.   The  part about me being married is right.  The WJC  author did get the GOP/Tea Party animus right, if not it's founding.

Libertaian Ron Paul may have aligned with the Tea Party, but I'll bet money that 8 of 10 self-identified Teapartiers (I am one) don't give squat about thoseWJC listed (Libertarian) objectives, save for the the Second, Fourth, Tenth (and First) Amendments thing  and  spending limits.   Now,  Sarah Palin's someone who knows a Teapartier when she sees one, and she knows how to punch. If Chris McDaniel defeats six-term incumbent Sen. Thad Cochran in Mississippi, it will be in no small part due to Sarah's  influence.

Mr. Johnson Goes to Washington

Mr. Johnson Goes to Washington
Wisconsin Senator and tea party favorite talks about the frustrations of his first two years as a senator, his version of the 'Buffett Rule,' and what could happen if Mitt Romney wins.

Res Ipsa Loquitor
For starters, he says, Congress doesn't operate with anything close to the efficiency of a business: "If you're going to compete against an organization, Congress would be the perfect one to compete against."

... the Senate in 2010 included 57 lawyers (Mr. Feingold was one) but zero manufacturers and just one accountant. With Mr. Johnson, the Senate gained a manufacturer and an accountant.
He pulls out a pen and draws a diagram of Congress—a big rectangle containing a bunch of incongruent circles. "You've got all of these cookie-cutter offices. They're all stove-piped. They're all silent. A bunch of cats that don't play well in the same box. It's competitive. You see the exact same piece of legislation with somebody else's name on it. What's that about?"

The senator believes the 2012 election is seminal not only because he thinks it's our last chance to make a U-turn on the road to serfdom—"this election is literally about saving America"—but also because it offers Republicans a singular opportunity to educate the public about the country's problems, and in doing so, earn a mandate for fixing them.  [Full]

Johnson very much reminds me of Sen. Hank Brown (R CO -1991-1997).   (He was criticized by professional Senate Dems for being a "greedy businessman in it to protect his own interests). He quit after serving two terms to return to that business, saying "two terms are enough."

On crushing a 'tea party insurgency'

Hitler's Mustache

[...]  ignited a firestorm today among those increasingly concerned about what some say is a distinct anti-civilian tone that has infected much of the military and Homeland Security since 2009 [...]

This shift has some government watchdogs worried, particularly given that [Retired Col. Kevin ] Benson is using the platform provided at Fort Leavenworth to educate military personnel in his vision of the nature of modern warfare in America. According to the vision articulated by Benson, future warfare will be conducted on our own soil. The military will use its full force against our own citizens. The enemy will be average citizens whose values resonate with those articulated by the tea party. [Full]

Looks like Col. Benson, RET. is trying to score a sinecure with the Obamas.  He also, like Gen.Wesley Clark before him, appears to have misread the tea leaves. And-- it's one thing for military officers to quietly and privately discuss what appears to be inescapable civil unrest (given Obama's Helter-Skelter campaign);  but quite another to do it under an official imprimatur— and choose sides to boot!  Or have I misread this?  Because it's just so bizarre.

Teaparty Uprising

GOP leadership faces possible tea party revolt in 2012

Possible?

Buh-Bye RINO Buh-Bye

In less than three years, the Tea Party has gone from being ignored to being an amusing joke to being a convenient scapegoat for all of America's ills. What's next?

TheDC's John Rossomando reports: "Tea party activist David Lewis's announcement Friday that he plans to mount a primary challenge to House Speaker John Boehner could indicate a larger problem for the GOP leadership, and point to restlessness among an important segment of the tea party faithful. Republican leaders face a growing perception among some tea party factions that they are not interested in holding the Obama administration's feet to the fire on spending. Some say the Republicans talked a good game going into the 2010 midterms but have failed to deliver since winning control of the House of Representatives.  (Jim Treacher)

If Sarah doesn't run for president for some reason, I'd like to see her chair the GOP and rebrand it as a 100% purist Teaparty Party. What's the primary difference between the Teaparty and the GOP?  Primarily it's conviction.  Have some.

Reid expects Tea Party to fade away

Reid blamed everything that ails Washington and the nation on Republicans. He slammed the GOP for its refusal to go along with tax increases as part of this month's debt-ceiling deal, saying hard-core fiscal conservatives are making it impossible to strike a long-term deal that slows the growth of the national debt. [Review- Journal]

Tea Party’s heyday may be coming to an end, say political experts
The reign of the Tea Party may be coming to an end in Washington, according to academic political experts who say polls show a backlash against the conservative movement.

Two national polls released this month by CNN and The New York Times in conjunction with CBS News showed the Tea Party’s unfavorable rating at an all-time high. [The HILL}

Tea Party Movement Getting Americans Steamed

"The Tea Party has become somewhat less popular over time, even before the current debt crisis," said Carroll Doherty, Assistant Director of the Pew Research Center for the People & the Press. [TPM]
Question.  Who's the leader of the Tea-Party?
Answer:  There isn't one

The Tea Party is about being spontaneously pissed at the established political classes who've legislated a socialism that controls every muscle of national endeavor;  ruined our economy, and blocks every avenue to success.  I said pissed off!

  1. Congress' approval rating hits an all-time low -

  2. Obama's Approval Rating Drops to Lowest Ever

Here's when we'll know the tea-party  is finished.  When it comes under the umbrella of an organization called the National Tea Party, complete with elected chairman and official party policy that is more than "We want our country back!" .  Until that happens the tea party is  an idea that can't be ended by the wishes of  pissant democrats and establishment Republicans.

Rick Santelli - on leadership, lack of

Here's yer leadership

"Blame the Tea Party? Geez, no wonder Kerry did so well in an election. If it wasn't for the Tea Party, they would have passed the debt ceiling thumbs up, we would have been rated BBB.
[...]
In the end we need to address problems we know exist. A Treasury Secretary or a President should be out here, not fighting S&P, not grabbing the other coach and slapping him around, taking the umpire behind the barn – he should be getting the team psyched.

Rick Santelli Father of the Tea Party

"Throughout the segment Santelli barely took a moment to catch his breath, as even in the final seconds he maintained his anger as he declared it was “reprehensible” that all of the leaders in Washington are now on vacation for a month during this crucial time. Luckily for Tea Party supporters and fans of unpredictable television, it’s not likely that Santelli would ever be away for that long "

David Brooks "No Brain"

Go spank your monkey Brooks

-
The party is not being asked to raise marginal tax rates in a way that might pervert incentives. On the contrary, Republicans are merely being asked to close loopholes and eliminate tax expenditures that are themselves distortionary.

This, as I say, is the mother of all no-brainers.

But we can have no confidence that the Republicans will seize this opportunity. That’s because the Republican Party may no longer be a normal party. Over the past few years, it has been infected by a faction that is more of a psychological protest than a practical, governing alternative.  [David Brooks, New York Times token "Uncle Barry"
Republican American]

Gee, I wonder who he's talking about?

The members of this movement do not accept the logic of compromise, no matter how sweet the terms. If you ask them to raise taxes by an inch in order to cut government by a foot, they will say no. If you ask them to raise taxes by an inch to cut government by a yard, they will still say no.

The members of this movement do not accept the legitimacy of scholars and intellectual authorities. A thousand impartial experts may tell them that a default on the debt would have calamitous effects, far worse than raising tax revenues a bit. But the members of this movement refuse to believe it.

The members of this movement have no sense of moral decency. A nation makes a sacred pledge to pay the money back when it borrows money. But the members of this movement talk blandly of default and are willing to stain their nation’s honor.

Pour yourself a cup of tea Brooks, it might cure that incessant diarrhea.

Close the damned Hatch!

Tea Partiers storm GOP committee office
That sounds so good that I don't much care why.
Okay, here's why. The GOP endorsed Orrin Hatch for reelection.

Close the Damn Hatch
Hatch is kind of Utah's equivalent of Arizona's John McCain.  Or a crooked cop.  Around the time Hillary Clinton accidentally came into possession of all those raw FBI files (on every Republican of note), Orrin went from bellwether conservative to Ted Kennedy's BFF. I'm just sayin'.  One of Janet Reno's first actions as Clinton's AG was announcing that the DOJ would not be continuing  its investigation of Hatch's involvement in BCCI.  I'm just sayin'

Since the establishment GOP is suddenly so enamored with former Gov. John Huntsman, perhaps this would be a good place for him?  Just sayin'.

Tea-Party Poster

Obama and the Seven Dorks

Best Tea-Party Poster Evah!

Tom Mann sent this, titled "The Best Tea Party Ever!"  It is pretty good, but outdated.  Two of the Seven Dorks were no longer in the administration, so I replaced 'em.

Tom takes a daily bike-ride, rain or shine, around DC & environs.  If there's a demonstration, or a DO,  Tom's there.  For  several years now he 's sent me his daily output, until I no longer know what to do with them.   Which brings up a suggestion.  If you're a big time blogger connected with one of them fancy blog syndicates, and would like your own exclusive news photos of the nation's capitol, Tom is your man.  (answer in comments, and I'll forward.)
