Minimum wage scam

New council members may mean new life for minimum wage bill

Baltimore’s minimum wage proposal would win approval with support of five City Council candidates who pledged to back it if elected in November. Supporters say raising the minimum wage to $15 by 2022 would provide workers a livable wage. Opponents say it would cost jobs and prompt companies to leave the city. The bill failed to muster enough votes Monday. (Baltimore Sun)
Social DNA scientists (working with the National Academy of Social Engineers) have determined that the same genetic make-up that make Liberals want to help everyone, also leaves them incapable of understanding even basic economics.  It also predisposes  them to think that their  compassion is often offset by a contemptibly self serving minority who must be be forced by law to do their share.

CA Raises Minimum Wage – First Burger Joint Run Entirely By Robots Set To Open

In related news ...

Rep. Conchita Ohare (54th) immediately responded from her home in Playa Encanto, saying that "burger robots" are unconstitutional.

"Yes, I know all about the "unalienable rights," but only a very small percentage of the state's workers are alien, and secondly, California is progressive enough to grant anyone citizenship."

When asked what "unalienable rights" had to do with robot workers, she replied "That's  where the constitution guaranteed the unalienable right of a wage that made people happy!"

Tips from Jong-Il

OBAMUNISM, The Party,

As GDP Flatlines, Obama Brags About His Economic Record

The same day the 0.5% GDP growth came out, President Obama is quoted in the New York Times saying the country has done “better” than “any large economy on Earth in modern history.” Delusional doesn’t begin to cut it.

The only real problem with the economy, as far as Obama is concerned, is that he hasn’t been selling his successful policies aggressively enough.

“We were moving so fast early on that we couldn’t take victory laps. We couldn’t explain everything we were doing. I mean, one day we’re saving the banks; the next day we’re saving the auto industry; the next day we’re trying to see whether we can have some impact on the housing market,” he told the Times’ Andrew Ross Sorkin.

Never mind that Obama didn’t “save” either industries. Obama’s only contribution to GM and Chrysler’s bankruptcy process was to protect union interests at taxpayer’s expense. Dodd-Frank didn’t save banks; in fact it’s killed multitudes of community banks. His stimulus was a massively expensive bust.

The rest of Obama’s boasts aren’t on any firmer ground. [FULL]

How To Explain Economics To A Liberal

Uncle Milton

Uncle Miltie

In 1979, a young Phil Donahue challenged legendary economist Milton Friedman on the principles of capitalism. And specifically he went after the concept of greed.
But Friedman eloquently articulated what capitalism was really about. And how it was behind so much good and wealth that was created in history….
“But it seems to reward not virtue as much as it does the ability to manipulate the system,” said Donahue.
“And what does reward virtue?” asked Friedman rhetorically. “Does a communist commisary reward virtue? You think a Hitler rewards virture?”….

Thanks Skoonger;  I  minored in ECON during a time when academia was enthralled with Keynes.  It was only later, by watching Milton Friedman's series on PBS that I had me noggin banged.  There really is no voice given to what I call an academic common sense economics today.  Too bad.  Because today's  young Michael Moores, like here, have nobody to turn to.

Robert BEEEEEE Reich!

                                                         (Little)

Clinton Labor Sec. Robert Reich: ‘Mostly white’ suburban county to blame for Detroit’s woes

DETROIT – In a recent Detroit Free Press op-ed, University of California-Berkeley Professor Robert Reich places the blame for the city of Detroit’s bankruptcy on the “mostly white” residents of Oakland County.

Detroit-in-ruins-15“But Detroit is really a model for how wealthier and whiter Americans escape the costs of public goods they would otherwise share with poorer and darker Americans,” Reich wrote. “ … But one thing is for certain: A very large and prosperous group close by won’t sacrifice a cent — the mostly white citizens of neighboring Oakland County.”

The reaction of one Oakland County official was that Reich, a former U.S. Secretary of Labor, didn’t know much about his chosen topic.

“That piece is clearly misinformed,” said Robert Daddow, Oakland County deputy county executive. “He doesn’t understand what he is talking about.”

By all accounts, the state and Oakland County are major stakeholders in Detroit. Here’s some things Reich overlooked about how county and state taxpayers help fund Detroit [HERE]

To give Reich his due, he was the nearest thing to someone with integrity in Willy Clinton's cabinet.  His socialist leanings, however, are so intense that idiocies like this are his stock and trade. Also, I don't mean to pick on Robert. B Reich for his diminutive  stature.  One of my greatest thrills in baseball was seeing Eddie Gaedel come to the plate. (Eddie kept his politics to himself.)

First,  it's an irrefutable truth that all elected democrats are liars.  These  message factoids are targeted at the dismally Lo-Fo consumer.  Additionally, there is irrefutable truth that the very genetic structure that create Liberal receptors, tangentally  make it impossible to understand national defense, economics, or right from wrong.  I personally think it's caused by Monsanto.

Obama continues to set new records for mendacity.  First, and most importantly, he and his congressional lickspittles front-load all legislation so that true costs will not kick in until he's out of office.  In the case of Obamacare, for example, after miscalculating the true disastrous consequences of that legislation, he's used his magical pen to
extralegally change the dates when piper is to be paid.

Anyway, don't worry about it; we'll have to kill all of them (in the good way) at some point anyway. They are a cancer.

Tiem for More Minimum Wage Scam

When Democrats are in charge

Md. Democrats’ movement to raise minimum wage gains speed as election year looms

Res Ipsa Loquitor

Genetic distribution that cause a person to become and stay a Democrat (or socialist) also render them incapable of understanding basic economics. Undeniable Truth about Democrats #2

Even though I had an Econ minor in college, it was not until I experienced economics at the micro level that I fully appreciated the macroeconomics of minimum wage laws.

Our first home in Maryland was a scant half-mile from the gates of a large Air Force base.  Like most new homeowners we were house poor, counting every penny.  We shopped at a strip mall located opposite the main gate to the base.  Just when we had settled into a spending routine, Congress gave the military a pay raise.  Good on them.  What happened though, was almost simultaneous with that military pay increase came  across the board price increases in everything at the strip mall.  Food, hardware, liquor; everything.  And we noticed it with an acuteness only people who check grocery receipts with groceries as they're put away would.

Demand and Supply are the Horse and Carriage of  Econ 1.   A fact that Maryland Democrats are incapable of grasping, or even caring about. To them, it's about timely gaming the ignorant class
(as Sandra Day O'Connor describes) of voters with meaningless, but quite harmful bunco.

Sherrod and some woman commie mofo

Battlelines drawn on Fed chair decision

Sherrod Brown of Ohio, one of the Senate’s most outspoken liberals and a longtime critic of financial and trade liberalisation, circulated a letter among fellow Democratic senators this week backing Ms Yellen. Although it does not mention him by name, the letter, addressed to Mr Obama, was interpreted as an anti-Summers missive.

The choice of Mr Bernanke’s successor will be one of the most consequential of Barack Obama’s second term, with the potential to influence economic policy making for years to come. [Senate Democrats push Janet Yellen for Fed chair]

Sherrod Brown, still a little shit

When Sherrod Brown turned 7 years-old,  he was given an envelope and a package to open.  The envelope, from his grandparents, contained a $10 bill. Sherrod jumped in glee. "Mommy, will you take  me to buy the Che Guevara  tee-shirt,"  he implored?  His parents beamed and instructed Sherrod to open their gift.  It was a Che Guevara t-shirt.   "Oh mommy and daddy;" he cried," this is the best birthday ever!"

I know these people, so I'm pretty sure that happened.  Count on this at any rate.  If the, perhaps, senate's biggest leftist is drumming up support for Janet Yellen with the poseur, we know she must be an incompetent oaf when dealing with free market economies.  We  also can predict that Obama will give her the keys.

HUD

Feds to Map Every Neighborhood in Effort to 'Eliminate Segregation'... ^

Res Ipsa Loquitor

I know.  I've claimed to have became sufficiently inured to the Obama regime's daily violations of our freedoms, constitutional guarantees, and peace of mind,  that nothing more can surprise me.  Then, each new day they make me the liar.  What in the hell is this about?

To ensure that "every American is able to choose to live in a community they feel proud of," HUD has published a new fair-housing regulation intended to give people access to better neighborhoods than the ones they currently live in.

Donovan said HUD's new neighborhood mapping tool, which uses Census data, will "expand access to high opportunity neighborhoods and draw attention to investment possibilities in under-served communities."

My immediate reaction was that Obama, anxious to stop daily headlines about multiple murders in hometown  Chicago's Black neighborhoods, wants the gangs moved into crime free neighborhoods, across the nation.  What else?  Does anyone here know of a place in the United States where impediments, other than the ability to pay for food and shelter,  are in place?  No?  Then what's this about?  More race pandering?  And what a cruelty to include Asians and Latinos in the mix. These are, by-and-large,  people who've adapted; made their way by being industrious and having close knit families.  Old School.  There are no Asian Jesse Jacksons, or that other phony— Tawana Brawly guy—to fill them with resentment and excuses.

Under the proposed rule, the neighborhood data provided by HUD will be used to evaluate patterns of integration and segregation, racial and ethnic concentrations of poverty, and access to "valuable community assets."
The first time HUD caused this much WTF-ery in me was in the early 70's.  The agency purchased an upscale apartment building on Connecticut Ave, just inside, or outside the D.C.-MD line, I forget which.  The stated goal was to allow the new Great Society welfare class to break out of the D.C. ghettos, where rampant crime, and the MLK riots in '68,  had caused supermarket chains flee.  By moving them to someplace more upscale, these people would have access to grocery, restaurant and entertainmen values, within walking distance.

Can you see the problem here? Everyone but HUD did, straightaway.

The nearest supermarket to their new Connecticut Ave. digs was a Safeway, just outside posh, high rent  Georgetown.  I imagine it's where the Kennedy's shopped before John went to the White House.  Guess what? That's right.  The newbies immediately raised cain over the high food prices.  Only this time caused because chitlins and ham hocks were replaced by beef and pork tenderloin as meat aisle staples.  The Feds put pressure on Safeway to stock food more within the abilities of the newly unindigent, which realignment caused customers to migrate to even more expensive stores, like Magruders.  I know all this because I worked the area for Campbell Soup.

It seems then that we've arrived at what this is about.  Reinventing failed Great Society initiatives.  Because they were so ... so ... what?  WTF?

Taxes on wealthy French top 100 pct of income
American Liberals Applaud, Laffer Curve About to be Unpantsed!
Res Ipsa Loquitor

President Francois Hollande's Socialist government imposed the tax surcharge last year, shortly after taking office, to offset the impact of a rebate scheme created by its conservative predecessor to cap an individual's overall taxation at 50 percent of income.

The curve suggests that, as taxes increase from low levels, tax revenue collected by the government also increases. It also shows that tax rates increasing after a certain point (T*) would cause people not to work as hard or not at all, thereby reducing tax revenue. Eventually, if tax rates reached 100% (the far right of the curve), then all people would choose not to work because everything they earned would go to the government. full

Art Laffer's diagram, scribbled on a napkin one day, is actually Adam Smith's Wealth of Nations condensed.  It drove, and still does

" George Will, the widely syndicated columnist and TV pontificator, became disgusted at the way Bush has been currying the favor of conservatives, who have always suspected Bush of having closet liberal tendencies. So Will wrote a column dripping with contempt for Bush. And he summed up his feelings when he described Bush as a ``lap dog.`` "- Mike Royko
(see Rational ahem Wiki) , Liberals insane—out of their effing minds— and that included George Herbert Walker Bush who coined the term Voo-Doo Economics to deride advocate Ronald Reagan during their battle for the 1980 nomination.  (Yes, George Will was correct to  portray Bush as having liberal tendencies.)

This is a great day for Liberals then,  Francois Hollande will now prove that Adam Smith, Art Laffer and non-Democrats everywhere are wrong wrong wrong.  Soon, Parisians, awash in Euros, will be living like Arab oil sheiks.  Right?
