I dropped my sub to Scientific American many years ago, they got way too PC for me. Ditto for Astronomical Society of the Pacific.
I have a guitar amp that goes to 11.......so yeah, its louder than the ones that only go to 10
All organizations eventually lose their way and end up run by idiots.

I have noticed PBS has been running "global warming / CO2" themed Nova programs.. some re-runs from a few years ago...
There seems to be pushing the big lie harder than in the past. Desperation?
Add The New England Journal of Medicine to that list as well.

The Mother Earth News used to be a great resource for living in the country and making do with less,(they had plans for a hybrid gas/electric car you could build yourself) but it also turned into a liberal rag back in the late
80's.
"Backwoods Home" is an excellent replacement for Mother Earth News. No holds barred, gun totin' Libertarian publisher.
Cheesy hit the nail on the head about the Mother Earth News losing its way in the '80's. But the early issues are still gems and a great source for practical alternates after the SHTF or when you finally get fed up and hit the silk. Vintage issues are readily available at low prices.
Sky & Telescope, Sept 2011 issue, has an interesting article about the sunspot cycle, precursors and effects. It boils down to the possibility that the 22 year sunspot cycle is about to hiccup. The result could be another "Maunder Minimum". The "Mini Ice Age" lasted from 1645 until 1715. How inconvenient for little Al.
