House
to vote on Trayvon amendmentHearken ye booboisie House Democrats said Tuesday they will offer an amendment to push to overturn stand-your-ground self-defense laws in states like Florida. The amendment, which would withhold some grants from states that have such laws, will come as part of the House's debate on the Commerce Department spending bill. "'Shoot-first' laws have already cost too many lives. In Florida alone, deaths due to self-defense have tripled since the law was enacted. Federal money shouldn't be spent supporting states with laws that endanger their own people," said Reps. Raul Grijalva of Arizona and Keith Ellison of Minnesota, the two Democrats who are offering the legislation. "This is no different than withholding transportation funds from states that don't enforce seat-belt laws."

Of course, it was not long after the Castle Doctrine was made portable that the economy in Florida fell off a cliff. Not that it would factor in at all.....

We need get people spending money to boost the economy, and put people to work. So how about a counter-bill making "stand your ground" mandatory. Every adult in the country will be required to stand their ground and defend themselves and their loved ones when threatened. So everyone will need to acquire a firearm, ammo, and training in how and when to use them.
If threatened and you call 911 you will get immediate reminders on sight picture and trigger squeeze and they will dispatch an officer to take your statement and help you police your brass and contact the coroner to help clean up your mess. - 5/9/12, 10:32 AM

What it tells me is there seems to be quite a few "special needs" types who could fail an IQ test down around those parts that are genetically incapable of getting the message this side of the grave. - 5/9/12, 11:23 AM

It wasn't a factor, anon retard.
The law was changed in 2005. The Florida economy fell off a cliff with the rest of the country in 2009, when Obama decided that this country needed to go full retard Socialist.
Obama's election and subsequent political decisions are why ALL of the states in the US had their economy fall off a cliff, anonymouse. - 5/9/12, 11:58 AM

So long as the good guy prevailed, I'm good. Sounds about right. Bad guys are a little slow, if you get my drift. Takes a while for them to catch up. Darwinian thing. Call it remedial education. - 5/9/12, 5:58 PM

Let's get to the heart of the matter: Stand Your Ground laws are a nightmare for Democrats. First, whenever a Democrat attacks a Republican, he faces an instant death penalty. That's a solid deterrent to crime, which is bad enough in their eyes, but also significantly conflicts with their reparations agenda.
Second, when Democrats know that Republican assault victims will return the favor by shooting them, they profile their victims much more carefully to avoid death. This creates more Democrat-on-Democrat violence.
Third, since security is the cornerstone of prosperity, more secure neighborhoods have the effect of compressing Democrats ever more tightly into their inner city hell holes with 3rd World morbidity and mortality. Together with high rates of abortion, lower life expectancy depletes their population from both ends. It's still easier to bribe the vote of diseased Democrat than a dead one.
As the gentleman said, when do we get to the bad part? - 5/9/12, 8:28 PM

And even if self defense killings tripled ...
Good.
