I suspect the reason "authorities do not yet know the gunman's motive" is that we know too much about the gunman's motives to label him a right-wing extremist and blame it on Rush and Michelle.

I even saw one commenter making fun of them for not having guns on premises to resist. The fact that this was in Washington DC went completely over their heads.

( and it ain't a mousegun thing ... any completely inexperienced shooter with a semi-auto pistol is going to stove-pipe jam it until someone explains to him that dirty harry style muzzle flips cause this to happen ) -
