There are things in life, cultural things, that I never really understood. Georgie Jessel? There was a time in the 60's when he was on every variety show imaginable, where the likes of Dean Martin and Bob Hope would howl at his every utterance. WTF?

And "The Most Trusted Man in America." WTF? Who decided that? Has anyone ever pinned down the first time someone used that Walter Cronkite appellation? And Why?

And the Dallas Cowboys—"America's Team." WTF? Who said? If there was ever an America's NFL team, it was Lombardi's Green Bay Packers. Dallas?

Bruce Springstein—"The Boss." WTF? See Cronkite. And maybe it's just me, but, STG, Dion Dimucci, Chuck Berry, Jerry Butler and even Percy Sledge delivered more memorable music than this guy.

Stab me in the liver, Sheesh.
