Bombs Over Tokyo, etc.

WAR

I've touched on this before, but I'm rankled again.

In our nation's history,
approx14,300,000 Americans have served during wartime, with approx 2,800,000 of them being killed or wounded.

I was a student at UM when Jack Kennedy announced on television details of the Cuban Missile Crisis. Three of us jumped into my car and drove to Baltimore to enlist.  Just like that.  Alas, recruiting stations were closed at 9 PM,  so we went to the Block and saw some strippers instead, but the point is made.

I imagine that over the years quite a few Americans  felt the same call to action.  That's raw patriotism.   Not all ran to enlist at first bugle of course.  My own father, and step father, were both drafted.  Dad took a Nazi mortar shell directly; my step dad a sniper's bullet, but he survived.  I think if you asked all 14 million who served in wartime why they were fighting, all would have answered,  in some fashion, "to protect our country from the rat bastards trying to destroy it."  That includes both armies in the War of Rebellion, rat bastards being a relative thing.  If you further asked them to be more specific, the answers could I think be distilled down "to protect our freedom.

For the past 50 years some Americans who share ideologies copacetic with what King George, the Kaiser, the Nazis, the Japs, the Communists, and radical Islamos had in mind for us (total subjugation)  have increasingly gained control of our ship of state's machinery.  There is not a lick of difference between today's Democrat Party and the Communist Party, USA of the 1950s.  None.  To wit: the CPUSA fielded a candidate in every U.S.  presidential election from 1925
until 1988when they began just endorsing the Democrat candidate.  For the same reason then that I hate Communism, I hate today's elected Democrats, and the useful idiots who serve them.  They are deceitful and focused liars, the lot. And endorsed by the CPUSA.

All to bring me to this point.  If you, like me, see us engaged in an ideological war for the very soul of the United States, then what, pray tell, are the differences between this struggle and being in a frozen foxhole in 1951 Korea?  Most everyone in this forum have already enlisted, and wear the uniform proudly.   Our common goal: Destroy the uniformed Obamunist enemy.  But, more hatefulin any warare those who wear our uniform, infiltrate our lines, and  sabotage from within.  So heinous a crime that international rules of war allow the summarily execution of them when captured.

The GOP’s War On Obama’s Executive Action Lasted About 5 Minutes

Two Words.  Boehnor; Ilk    The greatest penalty, indeed a political death penalty for that lot, is being stripped of any leadership role by the GOP caucus.  And  replaced with those who understand that we are in a war for our survival. Boehnor must be replaced.  If the Republican caucus have a sense of duty, he will be, in January if not today.

Sorry sir, but you are nuts this time. Again, what Obama did was totally Constitutional. Article two, Section two. They only thing you could do about it is Impeach him, and we don't have the numbers. Do not have the numbers. You would have to get Democrats to cross over, and they won't. They all lined up behind Pornstar, and they kept Harry and Nancy, after the spectacular rout we just gave them. I know every fiber of your body wants to "slam the wall", but traditionally, that means losing, pointlessly. Do not do the Democrat's work for them, don't attack Republicans, fight, fight for TWO-THIRDS! That's what we need, then the great purging can begin.....

The Republicans have, or had, the power of the purse. They gave it up preemptively. Boehner and McConnell are poorly equipped for the job the voters gave them last month, which is to STOP OBAMA. They should be replaced by leaders who understand what is at stake. They are beholden to special interests such as the US Chamber of Commerce, which actually wants illegals brought in, and a completely open border.

That was the same situation that existed under George W. Bush. The fact is, these establishment Republicans actually want illegals in the country, though they know the Democrats will use them to retain political power when they give them the right to vote.

This situation is in a real sense a new form of slavery, as the pay they will get will be extremely low, certainly not enough to rise above permanent underclass status. Losing even more is the African American community, till now our resident permanent underclass, which will actually be below the new illegals, once the illegals are given work permits. I wonder how many of them realize what the Democrats (and establishment Republicans) are planning to do to them. I wonder how many Republicans do.

A
rebuttal to your rebuttal Robert Mitchell Jr

I think telling Boner and McConnell "not do the Democrat's work for them," would be more constructive, but I do appreciate your thoughts. BTW, I'm a Tea Party Republican through and through; I see the GOP as DNC Jr.

Robert Mitchell, Jr., what power exactly were you referring to that the president has under the Constitution that makes what he did Constitutional? Here is Article Two Section Two, and I didn't see anything in it that allows him to manufacture a law or to change one. He has a whim of iron, but don't confuse that with being in compliance with the Constitution.

The President shall be Commander in Chief of the Army and Navy of the United States, and of the Militia of the several States, when called into the actual Service of the United States; he may require the Opinion, in writing, of the principal Officer in each of the executive Departments, upon any subject relating to the Duties of their respective Offices, and he shall have Power to Grant Reprieves and Pardons for Offenses against the United States, except in Cases of Impeachment.

He shall have Power, by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, to make Treaties, provided two thirds of the Senators present concur; and he shall nominate, and by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, shall appoint Ambassadors, other public Ministers and Consuls, Judges of the supreme Court, and all other Officers of the United States, whose Appointments are not herein otherwise provided for, and which shall be established by Law: but the Congress may by Law vest the Appointment of such inferior Officers, as they think proper, in the President alone, in the Courts of Law, or in the Heads of Departments

Skoonj, "The Power to Grant Reprieves and Pardons for Offenses against the United States". That's the power he's using. He can ignore any law at the Federal level "Offenses against the United States", and because Congress, "thanks" to the Democrats, has made so much federal law, that's quite a lot. Including illegal immigration, which by definition is a "Offenses against the United States".

As to the rest of it, he's not doing anything except directing the INS/ICE/Whatever, and that's Congress's fault. FDR demanded (And got, from his pet Congress) all the power, which ended up in the "Alphabet soup" agencies. They are Judge, Jury, Executioner when it comes to their purview (such as Immigration). Alas, it took two-thirds to give that power away, and it will take two-thirds to get it back.....

As to "Tea-Party" Republican, Roger, I would point out that we are in such a mess because the predecessors of the Tea Party, Porkbusters, attacked the Republicans when the Deficit was dropping like a rock. They gave control of Congress to the Democrats, and the Deficit exploded tenfold. To have goals is good. But if you can't figure out how to choice your fights, when and where you will fight them, then you are more a danger to your side, then the enemy. You want to see REAL change? Two Thirds. Trying it with a two or three vote majority is a guaranteed route to failure. We need to be able to lose a lot of Senators, more then the "Justice Department" can kill (Like they did Ted Stevens, God rest his soul......).

What happened to Article II, Section 3 “[The President] shall take Care that the Laws be faithfully executed....”?

IIRC, there was a law passed some years ago that we build a southern border fence.
What did we build - maybe twenty miles of it?
There are laws that illegal aliens be deported, but the Executive orders them released on their own recognizance awaiting a hearing 6 months in the future. They don't show - surprise, surprise. One can argue the president has a pardon power, which means the offenders are not tried, fined or imprisoned, but where does it say they get to stay and work, not pay taxes, vote, and suck up welfare benefits. Uhbama has gone way beyond "discretion" and well into extraconstitutional activities by not only 'pardoning' 5 million offenders, but effectively inviting them to take what is not theirs and has done nothing "effectively" except to tear down the fabric of this country.
I don't like symbolic actions or Pyrrhic victories. The Left can have that "raise awareness" crap. Rob Mitchell is right that we haven't the numbers to impeach Uhbama, but giving him a blank check until September 2015 is kicking the can way too far down the road. Boehner and his government worshipping ilk have done this for too many years. Boner needs to fund the government until maybe the end of January, specifically leaving out anything for amnesty, and then tighten up after the new Congress is seated. He must pass multiple appropriation bills, department by department, program by program, not an unreadable gross omnibus bill that lets Uhbama shuffle funds hither and yon for his pet projects. Of course Uhbama and Dems will scream about "the horror of a government shutdown" and "default", which is are strawmen. The detail appropriation tactic ensures essential government basic functions are funded and receipts are more than adequate to cover SS, defense and debt service. We will not default.
I for one, will not cry if Education, Energy and EPA are shuttered for months.
I agree "I word" is off the table for now, but taking a shutdown off the table, ceding Congress' Constitutional powers to the Executive, and conceding fiscal defeat without a fight, makes Congress as useless as tits on a boar hog. It's worse than Uhbama announcing future troop withdrawals from Iraq and Afghanistan by a date certain. Boehner may as well go to a Caribbean island for the next year and get a real tan.
Boehner and McConnell just told Uhbama "do what you want and we'll talk again in 2016", and once again, said to American voters "Thanks for giving us the Majority Leader and Speaker seats; now shut up while we kick you right in the teeth." What's most galling is they won't admit to that and pretend they are on our side and love the Constitution
