POPE PICKS FIGHT WITH TRUMP ENTERS U.S. ELECTION BATTLE Pope Urban VI presided over a major schism in the Roman Catholic Church in 1378, which resulted in the emergence of parallel feuding papacies that lasted nearly four decades.
