Pope channels Urban VI

Pope Urban VI presided over a major schism in the Roman Catholic Church in 1378, which resulted in the emergence of parallel feuding papacies that lasted nearly four decades. Urban was supposedly prone to violent outbursts; later on, he caught wind of a conspiracy to depose him and had six cardinals arrested, tortured and ultimately executed. Legend has it he complained to the torturers that the cardinals' screams were not loud enough. The Church survived.

ABOARD THE PAPAL PLANE (AP) -- Thrusting himself into the heated American presidential campaign, Pope Francis declared Thursday that Donald Trump is "not Christian" if he wants to address illegal immigration only by building a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border.

Trump fired back ferociously, saying it was "disgraceful" for a religious leader to question a person's faith.

And this from Pope Francis's Argentina:

Last week, a young Franciscana dolphin was killed on a beach in Argentina as a consequence of rough handling by throngs of eager tourists. The animal, along with another dolphin, had reportedly been yanked from the water so people could take photos.

Meanwhile the Catholics of Poland and other Eastern European countires are not real happy with the Pope's endorsement of "open borders." Will send Muslim Refugees to Vatican.
Also a number of US Bishops are ticked off because his comments aren't helping them recruit or retain parishioners.

He's a leftist, no surprise.

I have to agree. I wouldn't mind a moat, Motion sensors and landmines.

I still marvel that leftists claim Christ would approve of judging people, as long as they are rich, (an extremely subjective word) and then coveting their stuff. Because, of course, its for the children. Or the poor, another subjective term.

No idea about this "Francis" person. The Pope - the real Pope - is at Mater Ecclesiae Monastery.

Asked my husband today if there has ever been a Pope recall. Nope? This pope reminds me of the Catholic hierarchy's desire for power that I read about in The Thorn Birds (back in the 70's). Even as a Protestant, I see this guy as shaming his purpose and position. Another sign of the times.

p.s. Rodger, I read your reference to Pope Urban IV. So maybe not so new, but definitely scarce in history?

Strange he is so critical of a man not even in power yet. If it's the plight of the Latin he strives to defend, I guess he missed the boat. He had years to take on the Kirchners in Argentina and chose not to. He kept the herd quiet and peaceful while these commies turned the most robust economy in S. America into a third world hell hole. And there they will remain for generations to come, while he sits behind his walls surrounded by the golden remnants of the Roman Empire. -Anymouse

I dont think the Pope is Catholic and I dont think those were tourists. They are all Argentinian socialists.

Bergoglio is a tool of the Ruling Class. The Ruling Class wants open borders which results in chaos and war which results in the growth of the State.

Nothing at all to do with Christianity.

It certainly does smell of coup. I guess they figured that if Obama could pull it off ...
