Budapest

I  recorded and watched  The Grand Budapest Hotel on Sunday 2/14/2016.  I just finished watching it for the fourth time. I find it mesmerizing.  Do you have a movie or recorded event like that?

The Admiral: Roaring Currents. I don't know how many times I've seen it. At least twice on Netflix, bought the DVD, watched it at least twice more. It's about the Korean (wasn't Korean, at the time) navy's greatest admiral, who took 12 ships and beat back the Japanese navy, who had about 130 battle ships and about 170 support ships. Twelve ships versus over 300, and still whupped Japanese butt. Netflix version is subtitled, but the DVD version comes with dubbed version, plus an explanation of who is who. Two hour film, and the final battle takes about 55 minutes.

Can't recommend it enough.

I have lots. In so particular order, as I remember them: Midnight In Paris (Owen Wilson), A Good Year (Russell Crowe), Swing Time (Astaire & Rogers), The 39 Steps (B&W, Hitchcock)... there are more, I just can't remember them at the moment.

TV shows: Justified, Band Of Brothers, Civilization (Kenneth Clark)

I have to classify all of these as guilty pleasures: The Quiet Man, McLintock, Holiday Inn, Singing in the Rain and The Adventures of Robin Hood.

Thanks Juice. Different time, different places, gorgeous costumes and places, humor, pathos, love story, great acting, lots of believable, well developed characters, no gratuitous violence or sex, happy ending. It has it all.

Lawrence of Arabia. So many spectacular scenes. Dr. Zhivago and The Bridge on the River Kwai are close seconds. Julie Christie......OMG
