Today's obamanation

Why it's time to repeal the 2nd Amendment
I teach the Constitution for a living. I revere the document when it is used to further social justice and make our country a more inclusive one. I admire the Founders for establishing a representative democracy that has survived for over two centuries.

Translation: I don't revere the Constitution at all when it doesn't agree with me ...

The Second Amendment must be repealed. As much as we have a culture of reverence for the founding generation, it's important to understand that they got it wrong —

Weasel words, "culture of reverence."

Much more profoundly, the Framers and the Constitution were wildly wrong on race. They enshrined slavery into the Constitution

A then necessary compromise, without which there would be no Constitution at all, but you knew that.

The Second Amendment needs to be repealed because it is outdated, a threat to liberty and a suicide pact. When the Second Amendment was adopted in 1791, there were no weapons remotely like the AR-15 assault rifle and many of the advances of modern weaponry were long from being invented or popularized.

First of all, it wasn't an AR-15 (which, without an auto seer is not even an assault rifle, but a semi auto rifle.)  further demonstrating  your utter ignorance of the issues, let alone the Constitution. Additionally, the Second Amendment was clearly focused on protecting the citizenry from their own government (from you, actually) , which means nothing is off the table if you can afford it.

Further more, the Ten Bill of Rightsall of themfocused on protecting us citizenry from the sort of government you are now espousing.  That you and leftist ilk are allowed to "teach the Constitution," is a the real obamanation here.  But you will outlive we who are capable of critical thinking, alas, and your cancer,  that's killing us now will  ...

The solution is really simple. Mr (((Cohen))) can move to a more "progressive" country where the gun laws are more to his liking. Like Cuba, or China.

Let's not forget that in the Revolutionary War era, most heavy weapons - the state of the art military weapons such as canon were privately owned.

My understanding is, as stated, the citizen have a right to offset any government advantage, including weaponry, aircraft, armor, control of the media. If they have the means.

I've said this here before: Tench Coxe, one of our lesser-known Founders, when asked what sort of "arms" the People's right to keep and bear were protected by (not "granted by") the Second Amendment, replied, "Every terrible implement of the soldier."

the founders made a couple of mistakes. imo, english should have been made the official language and congress should not be allowed to exempt itself from laws that it passes.

as for the 2nd amendment, how about we revoke the 1st for those who would deprive us of the second?

In the Elian Gonzalez case, Janet Reno (since Waco I've called her "Janet Sterno") established the doctrine that if you're suspected of exercising your rights under the Second Amendment, your rights under the Fourth Amendment can be suspended.

America is all but gone now, completely irredeemable. The Federalist Republic of Jefferson is well over a century gone. We are now in the last few throws of becoming the nation depicted in The Hunger Games. We have but one chance to continue in freedom, and that is to move back toward the Federalist ideas we were founded on, and starve the consolidationalist. The melting pot was the biggest lie ever told, not one day in our nations history have we been “one people”. We were never intended to be one nation. If we were to divide it up and live among our own, we might have a chance, it worked for Sweden and Norway. Otherwise, western culture is over. - Anymouse

I don't understand what purpose the ban would serve? I assume they think that there would be no more shootings. Because, a banned or outlawed gun would cease to exist in society.

With this logic why not ban illicit drugs, then there would be no more drug problems.

I guess their world is make believe. Their dreams may carry them, but they will have to walk back.

Is this the same Rolling Stone that used to publish just about everything that Hunter S. Thompson wrote?
