How freaking dense do you need to be to not understand that one? Guns, knives, swords, spears, bows and arrows, slingshots, armor, and all the accessory equipment that goes with it, like ammo and arrows and bayonets (with or without the chainsaw attachment) ... "all the terrible implements of the soldier" I think is the quote. Explosives and artillery ought to fit in there as well, but "common sense" restrictions on uncontrolled mass killing devices kind of put a stop to that one, and that's probably a good thing. OTOH, a machine gun is NOT and uncontrolled mass killing device, no matter how much ammunition you feed it. -

"Well regulated" meant trained and proficient in the use of arms. "Militia" at that time meant all men between 18 to 45 years old. That's in the prefatory clause of the Amendment, and doesn't change the requirement that we the people have the right to keep and bear arms, and that that right is not to be infringed.
The 2nd Amendment also did not grant the right. The right of a free man to defend himself and others, and to defend his country, are granted by God; the Amendment merely guarantees it.
What a pity that history is apparently not taught these days. -
