Inouye died too soon. At the time, there was no Trump to unseat. McCain got what he did because he publicly crossed swords with Trump, making him a hero to the Deep State and the now-berserk and desperate Dems. Inouye's service in war and in Congress made McCain's look like a Capitol page boy's career. IMHO, the Congress beclowned themselves honoring McCain as they did.
If Inouye died any time after 20 Jan 2017, and had jousted with Trump, he would have had a funeral from Hawaii to DC and back.
As it was, Inouye did lie in state in the Capitol, but I don't recall a week-long orgy by the press and the rabid Left.
