Such a beautiful city too, grew up there. What a shame but you gotta face the fact that the people remaining there, like my REgressive sister and her creepy exacademia husband voted for decades for politicians and their policies that have allowed this to continue.

They simply waaay outnumber those who have stayed and see the horror. It's not going to change. Show any of them pictures of a thriving Detroit with all that that implies and you'll get a zombie eyed grunt as a response.

I escaped Chicago in 1958 with my family and never regretted it. Looking back, it might be how it felt to the people who were able to escape the Eastern Block before the walls came down.

I'm reminded of that old saying about bankruptcy, "How does bankruptcy occur , slowly, then all at once. " So eventually Chicago will not be able to get anybody to support them and the place will burn down.

I grew up there too... the cops were all corrupt, people joked about it. But this? Unimaginable.
