The Edward M. Kennedy Oral History Project

The Edward M. Kennedy Oral History Project, created in partnership with the Miller Center of Public Affairs at the University of Virginia, is a compilation of interviews from current and former members of the Senate, House, administration officials, foreign leaders, Senate staff, issue advocates, journalists, Mary Jo Kopechne, family and friends documenting Senator Kennedy’s service. Following the launch of this collection, the Institute is planning an annual speaker series that will draw on this resource to highlight current and future national issues before the U.S. Senate.

BUT, WAIT!

Inspire the Next Generation?  Looks like he already has .... Thank you Ted.

Crib Deaths that never happened

RAW EVIL

Res Ipsa Loquitor

How can a country that elected Ronald Reagan have Obama tied in the polls with Mitt Romney?

The answer is: It's not the same country.

[...]

The same process that has already destroyed California is working its way through the entire country.

Teddy Kennedy's 1965 Immigration Act was expressly designed to change the ethnic composition of America to make it more like Nigeria, considered more susceptible to liberal demagogues.

Since 1965, instead of taking immigrants that replicate the country's existing ethnic mix, we've been admitting mostly immigrants from the Third World. At the same time, people from the countries that sent immigrants to this country for its first several centuries have been barred.

Eighty-five percent of immigrants now come from "developing countries." (How are they ever going to develop if their people are all on the dole over here?)

The "browning of America" is not a natural process. It's been artificially imposed by Democrats who are confident of their abilities to turn Third World immigrants into government patrons. [Full Analysis]

According to a recent poll by NHIP (National  Institute of Historical Polling), the top seven crib deaths that never happened, with the most deleterious effect on mankind in all of history were, in no particular order
  • Vladimir Lenin, Mao-Tse Tung, Joseph Stalin, Adolf Hitler, Edward Kennedy, Bill Clinton, Barry Obama
Conversely. the top seven most fortunate for mankind crib deaths were, in no particular order
  • Branko Filipovic, Conrad Flashtower, Andrei Nikolaevich , Willy J. Johnson, Chao Chen Fong,  Buster Newton, Hilly Golightly

RUPERT

RUPERT
One headline in the Herald read: “Kennedy’s Vendetta” and included some prose in a front-page editorial calling Kennedy “fat boy.” [Pop History Dig]

January 17, 1977

It was about this time that Rupert Murdoch registered on my radar screen.  The Wall Street Journal (alone) was covering Ted's attempts to break Murdoch using the FCC.  I was appaled by Kennedy's manipulation of the law to begin with, and this stoked my fire. The "Fat Boy" cover was cited as one that sent Kennedy over the edge, and was later immortalized when  Howie Carr fired up The Official Fatboy Ted Website!!  If there'a a more fascinating newspaper saga than William Randolph Hurst's, it's Murdoch's.  This POP HISTORY DIG story is a wonderfully entertaining time capsule.

Anyway, that was a long way to go to get to my point. Murdoch's Digital Daily launch may very well be the blueprint that finishes print newspapers.  That means we can add daily news to the the list of services that would be lost with a single snip of the right wire, so to speak. No telephones, no internet, no lots of things.  Instant Afghanistan. Zippety-Doo Dah.  Now, I'm trying to decide if that's a bad thing.

Kennedy on Kennedy

Today's QOTD

JOHN HENDREN, ABC: The sun has set on the Kennedy era. When Congress reconvenes next week, it will be the first time in 64 years that there has not been a Kennedy in office.

Ted still gouging taxpayers

Dead Man Gouges Taxpayers
Bay State pols U.S. Sen. John Kerry and U.S. Rep. Edward Markey had sought another $30 million this year, only to see it get slashed down to $8.5 mil- lion as an anti-earmark tide swept over Capitol Hill.
Boned Jello

The founding president of the Edward M. Kennedy Institute for the U.S. Senate yesterday said he is giving up on seeking federal funds for the legacy project, $30 million short of the total the institute has requested from Congress.

“We had this request in and we felt that either we get it this year or we don’t, and we’re not going to go back,” said Peter Meade, president of the institute. “I doubt we’re going back to ask for any more.

Boned Jello
The additional taxpayer funds would have been used toward the endowment and to create a civics course!  How nice.  But what sort of civics would be taught in an institution named after a man who engaged with the Soviet Union in a clandestine plot to undermine President Ronald Reagan's administration?  I propose instead $1 million to exhume Ted's corpse once a year to make sure the sumbitch is still dead. It really isn't close, but Barry will prolly overtake him

Edward "Ted" Kennedy

A Kennedy who actually deserved being shot

The recent laughable results (see post below) from academics attempting to select the best presidents ever, and my own experience with many of them, forced me to this conclusion. They can no longer be trusted to do surveys, or make pronouncements, and are certainly unqualified to select the "Most Vile American Ever'"  I'm not talking about things like putting gerbils up your ass.  I'm talking people whose actions damaged the foundation of this great nation.  As this blog's leading historian, I've been honored by my peers who asked me to make that selection.  In doing so, I draw from nearly 100 years, give or take, of collected  readings, watchings, and most importantly today, feelings, to announce the "winner," and four runners-up.  Without further ado then -
  1. George Mc Govern
  1. FDR tied with Roger Baldwin
  1. William Jefferson Clinton
  1. Barry Marshall Obama Soetoro
....  and the number one "Most Vile American Ever.".
  1. Edward "Ted" Kennedy

‘Tragedy of Greek Proportions’

ABC on Monday night again empathized with the Obama White House’s disbelief that they could lose “Ted Kennedy’s Senate seat” - Newsbusters

Excuse the Schadenfreudal fusillade of glee to follow, but - even if you discount the "tragic" consequences Ted Kennedy's legislative career had, and still have on our country; & even if you forgive his cowardly action in letting Mary Jo Kopechne die a horrible death in order to save his sorry ass; Edward Kennedy's alliance with the Soviet Union, in an effort to undermine a sitting President Ronald Reagan was treason.  There are no names I can call him, nor graphics I can produce that are off limits, or "over the edge" of decency when it comes to him.  Sending someone like Scott Brown, who has every appearance of being an honorable man (that is to say, not a Democrat), will only partially remove the stain left on the so called "Kennedy seat."   Yes, I am having way fun today.  Kennedy owes me. I hope there's no bad hangover.

  • Tommy Musgrove: This high-school civics student is said to be considering a senate run as his senior project

  • Marvin D. Johnson: Younger brother of Lyndon B. Johnson claims that he should assume Kennedy's position on grounds of historical continuity
  • Brian Dennehy: Will need a gig after quickie Ted Kennedy biopic wraps
  • Wally the Green Monster: Red Sox mascot may be the only candidate whose broad-based regional appeal, physical stature, and comically oversized head could live up to the late senator's

Channeling Ted

Abra-Cadaver

Obama Democrats, still operating under the assumption that invoking Ted Kennedy will magically make America swell with appreciation for Obamacare,  last night  wheeled in the widow Kennedy to do the invoking.  Prolly worked, but not in the manner they hoped for.

Dig up Kennedy and hang his corpse

Кеннедай
Ted Kennedy and the KGB
What is not generally known is that Kennedy collaborated with the Soviets well before Reagan was elected, and had a direct hand in crafting the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act. As a result of his efforts -- which appear in retrospect to have been crafted to prevent detection of his seditious activities -- the FBI was prevented from accessing critical intelligence that could have warned of 9-11.

A timely adjunct to Sunday's "Why Ted goes to Hell - CLV" post on the Swimmer's plan to destroy President Reagan in league with the Soviet KGB, this American Thinker article by Paul Kengor.  I did learn something new.  Kennedy was a serial traitor.
Therein, Chebrikov got to the heart of the U.S. senator's offer to the USSR's general secretary: "Kennedy believes that, given the state of current affairs, and in the interest of peace, it would be prudent and timely to undertake the following steps to counter the militaristic politics of Reagan."

Of these, step one would be for Andropov to invite the senator to Moscow for a personal meeting. Said Chebrikov: "The main purpose of the meeting, according to the senator, would be to arm Soviet officials with explanations regarding problems of nuclear disarmament so they would be better prepared and more convincing during appearances in the USA."

The second step, the KGB head informed Andropov, was a Kennedy strategy to help the Soviets "influence Americans." Chebrikov explained: "Kennedy believes that in order to influence Americans it would be important to organize in August-September of this year [1983], televised interviews with Y. V. Andropov in the USA."  The media savvy Massachusetts senator recommended to the Soviet dictator that he seek a "direct appeal" to the American people. And, on that, "Kennedy and his friends," explained Chebrikov, were willing to help, listing Walter Cronkite and Barbara Walters (both listed by name in the memo) as good candidates for sit-down interviews with the dictator.

Kennedy concluded that the Soviets needed, in effect, some PR help, given that Reagan was good at "propaganda" (the word used in the memo). The senator wanted them to know he was more than eager to lend a hand.

Kennedy wanted the Soviets to saturate the American media during such a visit. Chebrikov said Kennedy could arrange interviews not only for the dictator but for "lower level Soviet officials, particularly from the military," who "would also have an opportunity to appeal directly to the American people about the peaceful intentions of the USSR." [Kennedy and the KGB]
FDR fired Ambassador to GB Joe Kennedy Sr. because of his fondness for Hitler.  Nuts from the tree, wot?   Read companion articles, The KGB, Kennedy, and Carter and Treason and Ted Kennedy: The Story the Media Won't Tell for more reasons to despise Edward K,  the Democrat Party, and the media.

Cardinal O'Malley's bad choice

A Quibble, Cardinal

In April 2004, during an interview of  John Kerry by NBC's Carl Quintanilla,  this exchange.
Off-screen Voice : Will you be taking communion, Senator?

Senator JOHN KERRY (Democrat, Presidential Candidate): Yes.

QUINTANILLA: Dismissing some conservative Catholic bishops, like this one in St. Louis, who say
Kerry's pro-choice voting record in the Senate makes him ineligible for communion.
In Boston, Archbishop Sean O'Malley recently said of all politicians, quote, "If they're not voting
correctly on these life issues, they shouldn't dare come to communion."

Sen. KERRY: I fully intend to continue to practice my religion separately from what I do with respect to
my public life. And that's the way it ought to be in America
By his reply Kerry arrogantly assumes the power of the Pope, who alone speaks on matters of Catholic Doctrine - but that's what liberals do with everything, including the U.S. Constitution when it gets in their way.  But that's not what I wanted to talk about.  I want to know how the hell Cardinal Sean O'Malley squares that statement with his officiating over the funeral mass for Edward Kennedy?   My reasons have nothing to do with Ted's life of debauchery, a matter now between Ted and his maker, but - here, I'll defer to  this from  LifeSiteNews.com. -

Pro-life Catholic leaders say that, since Kennedy may have disavowed his abortion advocacy before his death, a private Catholic funeral would be appropriate.  However, they argue, in the absence of Kennedy's public repentance, a public Catholic funeral would heap scandal upon the Catholic Church and its pro-life teachings.

Since O'Malley went ahead and let Kerry receive the sacrament anyway, I must assume he's something of a weak sister.  Okay.  Let Kennedy be buried by the church, but let Placido Domingo sing while a single parish priest and two altar boys preside.  And end the service with, "May God have mercy of his soul."

A fitting pig roast

No more Kennedys in Congress after him?

Why Ted goes to Hell CLV

Kennedy Legacy # 72
Treason

This isn't a revelation, but a timely reminder. Just as Edward Kennedy was instrumental in the Bork Borking that triggered what has by now become a war to the death between Americans and ratbastardmotherfarkingcorksuckingdemocrats, Teddy was an early advocate of his party's now standard "Hooray for Democrats, Fuck the USA" model for governing.  Sorry Ted, it's Antenora for you.

Robinson, writing for Forbes.com, says Kennedy sent his close friend, former California state Sen. John Tunney, to Moscow with a secret message to Andropov: Help the Democrats battle Reagan in the 1984 presidential election, and in return Kennedy would help Andropov in dealing with Reagan.

Robinson recounts that Victor Chebrikov, a top KGB official, recorded the details of Kennedy's offer in a memo that was uncovered in Soviet archives in 1991.

Kennedy promised to:

  • Visit Moscow and prep the Soviets on effective propaganda. "The main purpose of the meeting, according to the senator, would be to arm Soviet officials with explanations regarding problems of nuclear disarmament so they may be better prepared and more convincing during appearances in the USA," states the Sovietmemo.
  •  Help Andropov get on U.S. television. "A direct appeal ... to the American people will, without a doubt, attract a great deal of attention and interest in the country," states the memo. "If the proposal is recognized as worthy, then Kennedy and his friends will bring about suitable steps to have representatives of the largest television companies in the USA contact Y.V. Andropov for an invitation to Moscow for the interviews. ... The senator underlined the importance that this initiative should be seen as coming from the American side.

According to the memo, Kennedy also had told Tunney that he planned to run for president in 1988. [Kennedy's Secret Soviet Overture Against Reagan]
