To this day, Mr. Clinton has annual visits with George H. W. Bush. He Calls G.W. Bush "brother." A March 1992 New York Times article published during the 1992 U.S. presidential campaign reported that the Clintons, then governor and first lady of Arkansas, had invested and lost money in the Whitewater Development Corporation. The article stimulated the interest of L. Jean Lewis, a Resolution Trust Corporation investigator who was looking into the failure of Madison Guaranty Savings and Loan, also owned by Jim and Susan McDougal. Lewis looked for connections between the savings and loan company and the Clintons, and on September 2, 1992, she submitted a criminal referral to the FBI naming Bill and Hillary Clinton as witnesses in the Madison Guaranty case. President Bush's DOJ stopped her investigation during the 1992 campaign.  In 1993 President Clinton fired her, along with all US Attorneys. I'm just saying. spit!

Banjo'd President 41 knew that  senior investigator for the Resolution Trust Corporation, Jean Lewis, had recommended action by the U.S. attorney  against the Clintons in 1991.  Both Paul Tsongas and Jerry Brown confronted Clinton with the issue of his unelectabilty  during Democrat debates due to various  improprieties by him and Hillary. There was then ample reason for President Bush to make Whitewater, and Hillary's "bag lady" activities a campaign issue.  He did not. In 2001 the outgoing Clintons trashed the White House before Bush 43's inauguration,  They also stole furniture and fixtures; they sold pardons.  Dubya was urged to open a criminal investigation, especially against Hillary, whose hands were particularly filthy.  He did not. Had Bush 41 acted we may have been spared the Clinton years, without which corrupt influence on the media and Democrat party,  President Obama could not have been possible. Bush 43 could have spared us Senator Hillary. I wrote these lapses by the Bush presidents off as unfortunate and misguided actions in the name of "a "kinder, gentler"  America.  However, when Bush '42  began doing world tours with Bill Clinton, I had to wonder; was he senile?; or did he view Bill's impeachment and history of criminal activity as simple  vagaries of politics? Today I read, Jeb Bush, Son Divided Over Ted Cruz And Obamacare.  Jeb was the smart one.  Jeb was the real conservative, we are told.  So naturally I figured Jeb''s son was another kid inculcated by a lifetime of Liberal education and media brainwash.  I was wrong as wrong can be. “I agree with this effort to defund it, or keep Texas out of the program unless we can modify it to a Texas-specific solution,” George P. Bush said, according to the Dallas Morning News. On ABC’s This Week Jeb Bush attacked the efforts and tactics by Cruz and Tea Party Republicans to defund the law. I know now what it's like to be played like a banjo.  Don't like it.

Actual statue may differ The money is being paid through a Bad George Bush initiative in 2004, the Millennium Challenge Corp. (MCC), that Obama is seeking to increase (natch).  Good governance?  Senegal is an utterly corrupt "country coming off its rails." Senegalese President Abdoulaye Wade just gave a $200,000 farewell gift to an International Monetary Fund representative, "in recognition to his contribution to Senegal."  Not only that, the statue was built by North Korea, and is not even the world's largest statue (China's Spring Temple Buddha, which stands almost 420 feet).   That statue, as modified, could easily replace the Statue of Liberty.

"Rehabilitate" by Whom?

“ The idea that history might rehabilitate George W. Bush seems too ludicrous to be seriously entertained. ” That's the first sentence from Atlantic Monthly's Redeeming Dubya, which pricked my ears.  First, "history" does not, cannot, rehabilitate anybody.  If that's the motivation, then it's not history.  It's Doris Goodwin writing love notes, or Howard Zinn peddling ideology.  History is what happened, honestly related, and from that the reader will make decisions.  Nobody living has ever read the history of their time time on earth.   Consider.  What if Dubya had been elected as the Democratic candidate in 2000, beating Newt Gingrich? Every thing after is the same.  Everything.  Begin with the New York Times coverage of President Bush's administration.  Would we be having this conversation?  That's precisely how tomorrow's historian will be able to consider 2000-2008 America, without the consuming need to proselytize an agenda.  From my vantage point, Dubya's primary sin is his role in turning a conservative Republican Party into a poor imitation of democrats.  While not the first, nor only  example, I'll cite his advocacy of Arlen Specter over Pat Toomey 1n 2004, allowing the Sphincter to prevail by a mere 15,000 votes. I could feel the "mo" shift, right then. It resonated. It's his Republican Party apparatus that foisted John McCain upon us. But, historians will look at other, more important things.  If the Middle East goes to hell after a new president reverses his policy, that will serve to burnish Bush's reputation with later historians, say 200 years hence, or after the Islamic Theocracy has ended, and they have the opportunity.  If his policies are left in place, and result in isolating Iran's ambition, and a shift towards enlightened government, then Bush is on Mount Rushmore.  No matter what, be assured that the $64,000 question on some future game show will be "Who was Nancy Pelosi?"
