OK, but I don't have but a couple of portable window models and they are still in the closet.

After one of the coolest (temp-wise) springs I've seen here in P'cola in the past 30 years, yesterday got up to about 99. Natcherly . . . first day of hurrycane season.

A/C labored all day and all nite, but didn't make the 70-degree setting my wife insists on for nighttime sleeping until about O-dawn-thirty this mornin. Compressor kicked in again 10 minutes later, and even though I reset the 'stat for daytime routine of 73, it ain't shut off again yet, and it's after noon here now.

Maybe someone else has good things to say about American Home Shield but I have not. Just had the bastids out for the TWELVE time in 6 years for the unit that 'supplies' the 2nd floor. Every year it gets turned on (both heat and a/c) I've got to call the idiots up. CINCHOUSE went Linda Blair-Exorcist-to-the-nth-degree with 'em. Maybe, just maybe, they'll actually replace the damn thing but I'm not holding my breath.

Uhbama just requested more carbon credits for Air Force One junkets, so you peasants in the mid-Atlantic sacrificial region have to cough up your offerings.

El Jefe,

I have AHS and they've been just fine with me. They didn't supply the equipment, just insured it. $60 per service call. If I want to replace the AC, it's up to me. I had some one out through AHS from a local AC firm to replace the capacitor, but that's all.

Now that's just mean! Turn of my AC? We've only had five or six days here in Portland where the temp ever got above 70 degrees this year so far.

@bocopro: I'm up here in Milton and we're having brownouts, apparently. Didn't happen today, but every day before today the power would blink out for about 30 seconds at a time. Happened 4 times yesterday. It's a scorcher!

jume 1st is the start of Xcel's two tiered electricity pricing. Anything over 500kwh is double. Nice huh? Supposed to keep AC usage down. Which it may or may not. I have central air in my home and have never used it.

But guess what? I also have two good size kilns I use in my glass studio. My electricity costs go from about $200/mo to over $500/mo for these 4 months.

Thanks Gov Ritter, who BTW after he decided he was toast in 2010 slunk off to a $300,000/year job at CSU pushing more of these economy "green" energy garbage.

Lousy CSMFs.

Wait'll the nitwh and his commie friends in the epa start shutting down the coal plants around the country. Glad I'm getting my propane back-up installed in the new house.
