The Years of Shame

Is it just me, or are the 9/11 commemorations oddly subdued?

Actually, I don’t think it’s me, and it’s not really that odd.

What happened after 9/11 — and I think even people on the right know this, whether they admit it or not — was deeply shameful. Te atrocity should have been a unifying event, but instead it became a wedge issue. Fake heroes like Bernie Kerik, Rudy Giuliani, and, yes, George W. Bush raced to cash in on the horror. And then the attack was used to justify an unrelated war the neocons wanted to fight, for all the wrong reasons. [...]

The memory of 9/11 has been irrevocably poisoned; it has become an occasion for shame. And in its heart, the nation knows it.

I’m not going to allow comments on this post, for obvious reasons.

Conscience of a Liberal. Yup. To absolutely no one's surprise.

PASS IT NOW! When it's drafted.

"Congress should pass this bill right now," Jarrett said on MSNBC.

No more than one minute later, Jarrett said the White House is still writing the bill and it will be submitted to Congress next week.

Government by Retard

Gummint Regulations and Idiots Who Interpret Them

South Pasadena Police Chief Joe Payne said he did not have the man power needed to staff officers at Fair Oaks and Huntington Thursday and that is safer to allow traffic to back up.

Citizen Ticketed by Asshat Cop

[Full Story]

I can't imagine that there's a single person in the United States who saw this story and didn't  mutter "JFC! WTF?" Aside from Chief Joe Payne that is—   who, truth be known, is prolly just standing behind an his overly officious and idiot patrolman .  I'll also posit that there are a hundred more stories just like this that happened around our nation yesterday, and every day, but didn't make it to DRUDGE.  And that's the point.

As government takes over every aspect of our lives, we are subject to the whims of people as officiously stupid as that cop.  Every government agency has people entrusted with pulling levers, and we have to live by their decisions.  It's regulations. I have no idea what Alan Ehrlich's political affiliation is, but he ought to be elected to the Pasadena City Council.  And get a statue too.  It's that spirit that lived on United Airlines Flight 93.

Fuck Islam, and the Pale Horse it Rides in on.

EVIL

Islam Toys

I've been actively pissed off about it every day since, so I'm not going to do anything special over 9-11 just because it happened 10 years ago today.  I listened to the show last night that replayed phone calls home from people trapped in the towers.  Most died.  I wasn't going to listen because it all sounded too macabre, not to mention intrusive.  Surprisingly , they were not.  Maybe because the disembodied voices were so matter-of-factly void of panic.  So like everyday calls I receive from my own family.  I think most of them, deep-down, knew they were going to die, but would not allow it to surface.  While there was the tiniest hope.

I hate Islam, if not every poor schlub who's had it thrust upon him as a birthright.  The notion of it gaining a foothold and influence in this country makes me want to puke.  Islam is flatly inimicable to our own American birthright  For reasons previously stated. We win, or they win.  Period.
