David Brooks Gobble Gobbles

Just days before President Barack Obama was sworn into the the presidency, Washington Post columnist George Will hosted a party attended by several prominent conservative pundits — CNBC's Larry Kudlow, Washington Post columnist Charles Krauthammer, Wall Street Journal editorial page editor Paul Gigot and New York Times columnist David Brooks, among others. Brooks' apparent impression after that party was that Obama was 'a Burkean' — and not a strict ideologue — who understood the 'organic nature of change.'

On Thursday's 'The Laura Ingraham Show,' Brooks said he still admired Obama, but conceded the president was more liberal than he originally thought. 'Yeah, I still like him — admire him personally,' Brooks said. 'He's certainly more liberal than I thought he was

"Good point: Obama really is kinda liberal, isn't he? Next we'll move on to the really tough ones, like water being wetter than you originally thought, and the sun being hotter than you originally thought. Baby steps." - Jim Treacher

Don't Fk With Me!

White House spokesman Jay Carney refused Thursday to explain the administration’s legal justification for President Barack Obama’s attempted recess appointment on Wednesday of three Democratic allies to government positions, but instead dared Republicans — including former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney — to campaign against the president’s decision.

GOP leaders may try to argue that the appointments violate the Constitution, said Carney, but “they seem to believe that after all we went through in 2007 and 2008 … Wall Street should go back to the way it was; the financial institutions should regulate themselves,” he said during the Thursday midday press conference. Some may think there are myriad reasons for certain measures to be employed here, the foremost reason being self-defense.  However, here are the reasons why  they should not be brought to bear..
  1. Violates American law
  2. The Fifth Commandment
  3. School, highways, airports and aircraft carriers named "Obama."
  4. Wall-to-wall wailing by the media
I'm certain to have missed some, but the Impeachment process is the proper avenue for a proper country.   These tools however are approved for general use.  By God.

I bought this set about six months ago, and they are wonderful.  But here's the scary part.  Just last night I was watching an episode of  America's Test Kitchen  (The new best food show on television) where they tested storage containers.  This was the winner.  When I say "this" I mean  the one I point to above.  The price— $14.95  You might want to jump all over this deal.

You're welcome

File sharing officially recognised as a religion in SwedenCulture
A Message from the Head of the Holy
Kopimi Church

Have I awakened in an alternate universe?
FILE sharing has become a recognised religion in Sweden after a movement successfully registered the Church of Kopimism.

The group of 3000 members were official recognised by Swedish authorities and hope to make file sharing legal.

Spiritual leader of the Church of Kopimism Isak Gerson said the group’s main ritual is the act of copying and connecting with each other by sharing information.

“For the Church of Kopimism, information is holy and copying is a sacrament,” Mr Gerson wrote on the church’s website.

“Being recognized by the state of Sweden is a large step for all of kopimi. Hopefully, this is one step towards the day when we can live out our faith without fear of persecution.”

There's nothing I can add, however I am reassured to discover that Pope(?) Gerson is a deist, and has no intention of overthrowing the U.S. government.

Dan Liljenquist for U.S. Senate SNARK

Dear Friend,

As we come into the new year, I'd like to thank Orrin Hatch for his 36 years of service. I would also like to wish him well on his way out of the United States Senate. It has been far too long for Utah and the United States and it's time for a change. Orrin Hatch has done more than any other Republican in the history of this country to nationalize health care. He resurrected Hillarycare and dusted it off and gave Ted Kennedy and Hillary Clinton the biggest wins of their careers when he pushed through SCHIP. God bless Orrin Hatch for his nearly 4 decades of service, but I won’t need to wait 36 years to make a difference.

I received that via e-mail this morning.  Despite the "Dan for Senate" header, My eyes jumped to the text. I assumed it was Liljenquist's endorsement of a Hatch reelection.  Until I read it for the third time.  What fun. . Dan Liljenquist for U.S. Senate
