I have from time to time followed the New York Times Electoral Vote Analysis this year.  They began with Obama leading 217-206, and the last I checked (June 1) it remained the same.  On a whim I just checked and,  finally, they have some movement.  Obama is now, according to the New York Times, ahead of Romney 237-291!  Oh my.  Of course the deciding "Tossup States" are not quite so "Toss-up" today; nor is Pennsylvania a sure-thing Obama state. Pass the popcorn.

Biden's White Lying Teeth

This one was hard to watch, and I suspect many fewer people did watch it than watched the first presidential debate. The vice-presidential debate resembled one of those cacophonous political talk shows that call it dialogue when they encourage guests to talk over each other. Biden was the chief, almost the only, offender, but if you had listened over the radio you might have thought he won anyway, so oleaginous and unashamed was he. This was demagogy old-school style, without a trace of irony, betrayed only by the Joker-like smile. Thank goodness for television. Charles R. Kesler

jimgeraghty Clearly, the most unnerving and unstable performance in a presidential debate since David Palmer debated Sen. John Keeler.

charlescwcooke If the AP and CNN polls are accurate—and who knows?—Paul Ryan won the VP debate without being allowed to finish more than a few sentences.

TIME’s Michael Scherer:: “Not sure debate cameras have been light tested for Biden’s teeth. Best to watch with sunglasses.”

Washington Examiner’s Philip Klein: “Biden’s strategy seems to be to laugh at Ryan constantly. Will it work to infantalize Ryan, or backfire like Gore sighing?”

Republican strategist Ron Bonjean: “Biden laughing does not come off with the intended effect. It is actually hurting him. Looks very condescending.”

Movie critic Roger Ebert: “Joe! Stop smiling and laughing!”

Chris Wallace: I've never seen a candidate as disrespectful as Biden...

At the time I thought those "warnings" were calculated to create an atmosphere of  inevitability about the result;  discourage the Republican base.  In retrospect,  I think it was the emergence of the thug mentality that has so manifested itself with this regime.  At any rate, that table has clearly turned.  Guess how the riot thing works today?

That's right.  And it will be spontaneous and brutal.
