O Club chatter

Bar Chatter

Cliff Obama in action

Anonymoose Meanwhile, in AZ, handgun sales are on track to be even greater than they were in Obama's first year.

N.B.: Rifle and shotgun sales are flat or declining. Armed robbery futures are underground.

Dale                                                                                       This money business is going insane. Next week they say gold and silver will jump. This just takes money out of circulation. No problems for some countries that produce things like oil." Norway has a sovereign wealth fund of $500 billion". Homes have increased in value 2.8%. I follow Norway out of interest only. If they go back to the gold standard things will get worse. That again is Keynesian economics. "Them that have's gets and them that don't wait's". They seem determined to repeat the bad economics of the depression. The well known names of today of the depression era took their opportunities and benefited.
"I seen me opportunities and I took'em".
Property, water, produce things or service are the value. You might be money poor but must endure the pain about you. Hopefully you aren't overrun and everything is taken. That is the Obama way. Take from those that have.

The O Club, like my blog, is stream of consciousness converation, except there's a bunch of them doing it and they're all pretty smart.  Informative and  entertaining too.  I haven't found a Cliff Claven among them.

O Club Fun

Last night at the O Club

I think I loved you then — the thought of you still triggers a sinking in my chest, as if my heart is riding a tiny roller coaster built for hamsters and garden gnomes.

HOLY FUCK.

Weapons-making parts seized from Malaysian ship.

Apparently nuclear bomb making equipment en route from China to Iran.

Tell 'em their treasury certificates are now just VERY expensive toilet paper.

20110317 13:52 Anonymoose Thing: the US has likely used torpedoes to sink two NKor ships that were transporting nuclear cargoes to Iran, and Australia openly used a confiscated NKor heroin transport ship for bombing practice in 2006.

Interesting note: after we torpedoed the NK ships, US surface ships went to the scene to rescue survivors, all of whom were heavily contaminated. While USN ships are equipped to deal with such contamination, it is still a major pain in the rear.

20110317 18:39 Anonymoose Thing: South Korea and Singapore have intercepted suspected nuclear and weapons materials bound for Iran that breach UN sanctions imposed on the Islamic republic, diplomats said on Thursday.

The two seizures, made in the past six months but only revealed now...

O Club 2-28-11

O Club Chit-Chat

The O Club ca. 1933

lotp British special forces have gone back and rescued another 150 people from Libya. Meanwhile, Obama recovers from his Motown celebrations at the WH (or at any rate, that's all that he seems to be doing).

I am deeply ashamed for our country at the contrast.

trailing wife Libya had training camps for the world's bad guys, as did Saddam Hussein's Iraq. It was called something-or-other Pak, as I recall. On one side of the fence the Iraqis trained, on the other side the various terror groups were trained: bombs, airplane hijacking, poisons... The loss of that professional training probably has a lot to do with the dilemma Al Qaeda finds itself in now, as the ever-decreasing number of Number 4s work desperately to train while they are trying to manufacture supplies.

Dale Just some random thoughts;
Talked to USN retired intelligence officer and he is more concerned now than when we had the Cuban missile crisis.
He also said the Fourth Fleet is history because of O.

Tucson=Austin

Heard at the O-Club

O-Club

20110215 23:15 Pappy I was too young to remember Ike.

Ah yes. Tucson. As I mentioned before, it's to Arizona what Austin is to Texas, but without the barbeque.
20110216 09:28 Anonymoose Pappy: A friend is convinced that the town of Sunnydale, California, used in the Buffy the Vampire Slayer TV show, is actually Tucson.

To start with, it is over a Hellmouth and run by Democrats, and is full of witches, brujos, fortune tellers, monsters, Maoists, moonbats, illegal aliens, and l*sbians. And he swears there are Mexican bars there like the one in From Dusk 'Til Dawn, so there are plenty vampires, too.

Even God owns a bar there, called The Meet Rack, and if get God's brand (literally), every time you return thereafter, your first drink is free, for all eternity.

God was actually sued by a drunk hooker, once, and beat her on an episode of The People's Court.

It is also close to Fort Huachuca, which has oodles of Military Intelligence X-Files bulldada on and under it.

What's not to like?

Bar Talk

20101130 14:18 Anonymoose Coincidence?

Assange is planning his bank data dump about the same time as that European Dec 7 effort to disrupt the Euro banking system.

Now, while neither of these probably represents a substantive threat, if a major player, like Soros, uses it as cover for a serious attack, there could be trouble.

Again, mattress money might be in order for a bit.

Rebellion murmurings

Belly up to the bar

I saw on Drudge Assassination Calls on TWITTER.  Twit is right; what are they thinking?  Barack Obama highways, airports, coliseums?  President Biden?  JFC!?! Still, passions are running very, very high on this gummint takeover, and that's a very good thing.  This morning, while I was enjoying my morning Manhattan at the O Club, I recorded the conversation. Nothing profound, just the sort of things you'll hear anyplace in the country today.

Dr Steve - 2 new ways to kill TB

49 PanAs we watch the next civil war unfold I was reminded by by wife that the first civil war was not about slavery as much as this one coming will not be about health care. This is all about states rights and federal mandates. 14 states are now divided from the union and going to court over this bill. Not the GOP but Governors. The suits are against the feds from mandating what people are forced to do. If they fail, the next step will be civil unrest. It is on its way. I hope the supreme court will see what it will do to this nation and find it unconstitutional.

3dcSo will it be a historical fugue on the Russian Revolution?

HMMMM

49 PanOk so he took over America's largest manufacturing machine, the auto industry. Now he has gone after the nations health care, 1/6th of our economy. The banking industry is next. This is classic socialism. No one ever has committed so much harm to our nation than this man. No one man can plan and organize this much. His party from Chicago does not have the strength or capacity to do this, let alone the dems. Either this is all one big coincidence or this was planned and directed, or God now hates us.
Bear in mind that  O-Club denizens  are very intelligent, gainfully employed ex-military.  They do not hate government; they hate this government.  Their comments are measured, without even a hint of that twittered crap.  49 Pan's reference to our "first civil war,"  however, does force me to once again to remind that the 1861-1865 to- do was not a civil war; it was a rebellion by several states. In retrospect, at its core, they were right to do so.  Too bad they lost (don't even - slavery would have ended in any event, and without the lingering hangover).
PS: Sharpton is 100% right.

Right now our Fallujah is the health care bill

Today's smartest person

I nominate lotp for great thinker of the univerese, today. And not just because he here speaks my mind with his mouth.  Well, yeah, it is.

OS, I fear that the far left is quite aware that they are radicalizing the right, and will use the first instance of violence as an excuse to ditch all but the thinnest veneer of true representational government.

Remember: the far left hates the middle class above all. Their aim is to destabilize, to destroy the day to day orderliness that allows good people to go on with their lives quietly.

So yes, we're under attack. We need to:

Repel the immediate attack
Figure out a strategy
Counterattack - but choose our terrain, timing and methods to give us the best chance of success

Longer term: clear and hold. Which may require Fallujah levels of intense political combat, fighting for every inch and every building. And then fortifying those areas and consolidating gains.

Right now our Fallujah is the health care bill and the sequence of other 'reforms' the far left is pushing in rapid succession (continued)

and then read this from Old Spook -

I always stood outside the political system, because my duty and integrity demanded it.

A lot of us are uncomfortable with becoming personally involved in politics, other than voicing an opinion and filling in our ballots on election day. You can see that in a lot of us vets - like Pappy for instance.

But I'm trying to do what I can -- that's why I went to the caucus, and got my self elected as a delegate. For the first time in all these decades of my life I have become overtly and directly involved in the political side of things. Its not in my comfort zone, and I do not like operating in the open like this. But something had to be done. The problem is, it may not be enough.

I was not so worried before this, as I thought the usual political machinery could be harnessed to correct this. That's why I jumped in, to help try to push things the right way.

But last night really opened my eyes.

My perception now is that there are far more potential loose cannons than there are people trying to secure and aim them properly. Malicious power-hungry people on both sides benefit from them being the way they are.

The Democrat leadership just does not seem to understand how this is going to cause a number of people to snap their bonds to this government (c.f. Waco, BATF and McVeigh), they are so self righteous they have arrogantly ignored needing the consent of those they are supposed to represent. They seem to think they can use any violent reactions to crack down and further consolidate collectivist power in the state. They do not realize just how fundamentally wrong they are in gauging the grim fire and fight in that part of the population .

On the other side, the GOP leadership, in its lust for political power, doesn't realize that these folks will break away from the system in a fundamental way that will not benefit the GOP politically they way the leadership thinks it will.

In order to remedy things, these "broken away" people will be looking for far more direct and high impact methods than a voting booth (again, c.f. McVeigh et al).

And that's what's keeping me up at nights.

SOUP

Frank G Did anyone else catch the blowup at Protein Wisdom this week? Dan Collins (I guess?) left to start his own, and Goldstein seemed like a nice guy, but absentee owner everytime I checked in (infrequently).
Thing From Snowy Mountain no, Frank, but I did see this at lgf:
Yes, you’ve read correctly. To all of you GOP types playing the “offended” card on a daily basis... Prepare to have your feelings hurt, because according to my carefully calculated research... Republicans need to shut up and laugh a little.
To which I will simply add, “Indeed.”
Ain't that rich coming from someone who's banned as many people as he has over the past couple of years? I'd point this out there, but the message would just get deleted. (Assuming, of course, my account hasn't been purged a long time ago).

O CLUB CHATTER
Pappy GM today has begun its public relations campaign to convince the public that it isn't a dying industry.

By taking out full page ads.

In newspapers.

Savor the irony.

Deacon Blues Afternoon, All. No one bought my house at the auction this morning so now I negotiate with the bank. Another bullet dodged.

Grunter My wife saw a coyote yesterday, while out walking the dog. Coming out of Riverdale Park, in The Bronx.

OldSpook FYI: if any defender of this crap says "it means the people, not the race" - tell them BULLSH*T. The guy that coined the term used it in a way that supports a racial supremacy angle, to wit:

La Raza, the term, (literally "The Race") originated in the book La Raza Cósmica written by a Mexican writer, José Vasconcelos. He described La Raza Cosmica as the product of racial mixing over time that was already in progress in the Hispanic world. Vasconcelos believed in Supremacismin

And they are discriminatory: Janet Murguía, CEO of the NCLR said at an award ceremony for U.S. Attorney General Alberto Gonzales: "We are going to put our [Latino] people first" - prima facia racial discrimination.

I suggest the following be put to Judge Sotomayor (as put by Congressman Norwood in addressing La Raza and its ties to MeCHA and Atalan and other organizaitons that advoicate racist separatist and irredentist Hispanic activities and sensitivities)

1. Denounce and sever all ties with MEChA and any other organizations with which they are now or have ever been associated or funded which held to the racist doctrines published by MEChA.

2. Denounce the statement "For La Raza todo, Fuera de La Raza nada" [“For the [hispanic race] everything, outside the the race, nothing”] as repugnant, racist, and totally incompatible with American society or citizenship.

3. Repudiate all claims that any current American territory rightfully belongs to Mexico.

4. Acknowledge the right of all Americans to live wherever they choose in the United States, and that no section or region of this country should be segregated by race or ethnic heritage.

5. Commit to sponsorship of nationwide educational programs to combat racism and anti-Semitism in the Hispanic community.

6. Seek neutral, third party supervision to ensure that all community and individual assistance programs offered by La Raza and groups supported by La Raza are accessible to all Americans, regardless of race or ethnicity, and that participation in those programs is fully compliant with Equal Opportunity laws.

7. Acknowledge the internationally recognized borders of the United States, the right of the citizens of the United States to determine immigration policy through the democratic process, and the right of the United States to undertake any and all necessary steps including military action to effectively enforce immigration law and defend its borders against unauthorized entry.

Those 7 things must be very clear.

Bar Bet
Free Radical     rejoinder to 3dc:

I'll place my wild bets as follows-

1 drink: that Obama *will* make a major effort on the Pak nukes, but it will be too late and have lousy follow-thru.
2 drinks: that China does *not* push for a strike vs. India and that China's autonomous muslims stay quiet.
1 drink: that India does nothing more than continue to oppress its own muslim population.
1 shot (of white-lightning): that Iran goes nuclear as an excuse.
1 drink: that Israel does nothing about either Pak or Iran as they won't have US support.
1 drink: that Moscow does nothing and isn't nervous (Russian threats carry weight, unlike Obama's.)
0 drinks: re:Saudi. Huh?
1 drink: That your right- Obama exits theatre AND that we pay hell for it for at least 10 years.

All drinks redeemable here at the O Club, of course!
