In April, members of an immigrant family in the Basel area were denied citizenship because they wore sweatpants around town and did not greet passersby -- a sure sign that they were not sufficiently assimilated, the naturalization board claimed. Another recent case sparked widespread outrage in Switzerland when two Muslim brothers refused to shake hands with their female teacher, also citing religious restrictions. Friday morning’s Fox and Friends saw Tucker Carlson interviewing Congressman David Cicilline (D-RI), a fierce advocate for stricter gun laws. The two began their discussion about the recent Democratic Party sit-in, and eventually shifted to the Democrat’s recent proposal for an assault weapons ban. Cicilline listed the components of a weapon that made it an “assault weapon” but had no idea of the function of what he wants to ban. According to Cicilline, a barrel shroud is one of the elements that make a rifle an assault weapon, but when pressed he kept evading the question about what a barrel shroud does (a barrel shroud is a safety feature which slips over that the barrel of a gun to prevent the person handling the weapon from burning their hand on a hot barrel). And they say it with anticipation and excitement. How many times do people ask you that?  They ask me that all the time. My answer, by the way, from the get-go has always been, "She's not gonna be indicted.  There's no way it's gonna happen.  You don't understand the Democrat Party and their use of power if you think their presidential nominee is gonna be indicted by an Obama DOJ.  Ain't gonna happen." JOKES ARE DANGEROUS Two days ago I heard MoSup apparently sobbing; gasping for breath in the living room. Before I could get up she came into my office, iPad in hand, and tried to explain but could not, so she pointed at it.   I was immediately simpatico infected by her jag, and  began one myself.   Not at "My Goal," which I find ordinary, but her.   I asked "When was the last time you laughed that hard?"  Neither of us could remember.  Which got me thinking; when was the last time I had a paroxysm of laugh-weeping?  Maybe when we saw Something About Mary?"   A co-worker once told me this joke, and I laughed so hard that it was fully three days before I could tell it without going into another fit.  The worst case I ever had, though, was while hearing a joke told by a guest.  I was standing, had just taken a swig of beer, when the punch-line caught me.  Instant hypoxia;  fainted straight away. Just like that. I mean, collapsed without warning.  They thought I'd suffered a H.A. You'd think I'd remember what that joke was, but I don't.
