In the face of exposing my ignorance, but....If I could use this space to ask a question?
We've got a cherished LP collection (Leon Russel playing now) and I'd like to know if there's a way to copy LP's to CD or computer? Not sacralige... for car trips and such. What would we need to buy? [Laughter or mockery allowed] *beard and dark glasses disguise* Juice - 7/12/06, 2:19 PM

Okay, other than dak.com. That website is visually offensive.

We have the same problem, but in my case I have several hundred 78 RPM records that belonged to my father-in-law, and I'd like to tape them for tha family, but cannot put my hands on a 78 player. Yours, I'm sure, are vinyl LPs, right? There are lots of options, the chintziest being to record them via your computer's microphone using Widows Sound Recorder. If you have RCA jacks on your computer for audio input, do that. Isn't your son something of a computer guy? Ask him. Or, go to a computer store and tell them what you want to do, and and they'll surely have suggestions. Try starting HERE

Thanks, and yes vinyl. On net surfing there were several links that seemed informative, just wondering if there was a "golden" approach somewhere.
Coincedentally, our hard drive took a dump last week and we're on a borrowed PC. My husband wants a whole new set up, so it's a good thing to ask about while shopping. - 7/12/06, 2:51 PM

I've done some research on this very topic and the most informative site with very affordable products I've found is: http://www.dak.com/reviews/2020storyt.cfm?Ref=G&PM=CACD&type=GSrch&Srh=tape_to_cd_conversion
The site has videos on how to hook up the gear, how to convert music from LP & tape to MP3s, and even how to work their system with a laptop w/o a built in sound card. TxBubba gives it a thumbs up! - 7/12/06, 5:30 PM
