This is what drives me nuts about President Bush. I know damned
well that he supports the Second Amendment, yet once again a decision
is made within his own administration to ... what? Play devil's
advocate? Thwart the constitutional right to bear arms so
recently reaffirmed? I don't get it. He's got a State
Department that works against him, a CIA that plots to undermine him,
and a DOJ that - and this is not the first time - seems to be in bed
with Moveon.org more than they are in touch with the American people.
After seven years in office I expected to see the accumulated
Clintonfilth in these agencies peeled away, and some sense of order
restored, but no. JFC! Click-click.
ADDENDUM:
It is possible that this odd move is by design. Maybe Bush wants it to
go to the SCOTUS now, where a decision can be chiseled into the
national firmament (as though it wasn't already). What else makes
sense??
