Where we're at

Former Gitmo Inmate Leading Fight Against U.S.
As U.S. forces are pushing ahead with the massive Operation Khanjar in the southern Afghanistan province of Helmand, Mullah Zakir is leading the Taliban fight against them.

A Pentagon report in May concluded  that (as was predicted) 74 of 534 prisoners released from Guantanamo Bay returned to militant activity—a recidivism rate of 14%, or about 1 in 7.  The little we knew about this man Obama, and what is beginning to leak about his past, screams radical Marxist revolutionary. He is, in the view of many, a "Clear and Present Danger" to the security of the United States. Just how many will determine the course of our history.
"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States." Presidential Oath of Office

But, President Obama is not the only person who took an oath of office.

I (insert name), having been appointed a (insert rank) in the U.S. Army under the conditions indicated in this document, do accept such appointment and do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic, that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter, so help me God. - U.S. Military Officer Appointment Acceptance and Oath of Office

I, (NAME), do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God. -  Enlisted personnel oath.
Potential conflicts in these oaths are apparent.  The U.S. led Nuremberg Trials addressed such conflicts.  With his premature withdrawal from Iraq (as he promised his cult he would)  that country's nascent democracy is  primed to fail.  We are fighting a deadly war in Afghanistan like it was a drug bust in L.A., with more attention paid to the rights of the criminal than with the crime.  POWs have bail bondsmen.

Eighteen months from now Americans will be receiving a can of coffee for Christmas, and be damned glad to have it.  Retirement nest eggs will have disappeared, and tax collectors will be hounding everyone for the last scraps.  Only government employees will have the job security of gummint IOUs.  Add to this mix the question of Obama's very legitimacy. Despite a near media blackout on the subject, a June poll showed that 49.3% of us  know, and are 'troubled,' by Obama's refusal to release his birth certificate.  As Oath of Office conflicts become more pronounced, all this will percolate.

A military coup was unthinkable even a year ago, but then so was a communist government, where untold numbers of fraudulently elected members of congress hold sway. Unlike Iraq, we are a democratic republic of long standing, and will not collapse without a whimper.   God help us all - and I don't mean the government's god.

Quite a few of our tenants are officers from Leavenworth, major education center for armed forces. I get the feeling most are closer to our way of thinking than not and are aware of their responsibility. Hope they don't get pushed out before push comes to shove.

If Gitmo prisoners can sue Bush's legal advisors, why can't any soldier now injured by the Taliban sue the former Gitmo prisoner's legal advisors? And their law firms too. Seems to me they recklessly diresgarded what they knew or should have known would be the consequences of their traitorous representation.
