Giap's strategic rules might be broken down thus:

scream-of-consciousness; "If you're trying to change minds and influence people it's probably not a good idea to say that virtually all elected Democrats are liars, but what the hell."

"If the number of Islamic terror attacks continues at the current rate, candlelight vigils will soon be the number-one cause of global warming. " |

Giap lost every battle he fought against the Americans. Some genius.
His "cannon fodder" strategy could only work in a communist dictatorship. A free society would have given up on trying to conquer the South about '67 or so.
I've wondered if Giap spent many a sleepless night waiting for the punch line after the Tet Offensive. In a less kind world, he, and most of his troops, would have been hunted and killed after they were routed and forced to flee for their lives.

Tet '68 (or indeed any of their offensives right up until those scumbags John F-ing Kerry calls friends cut off military aid to the South in 1975) was the functional equalivlent of blowing their own brains out. Military genius, my fat ass. Giap should have kissed Walter Cronkite's ass for saving his reputation.

He couldn't defeat the US military,
but he sure as hell could break the peace treaty and go on to defeat South Viet Nam with the Democrat congress as an ally.
