This is exactly why I don't think UAVs for combat vehicles are a good idea.

UAVs are only effective on low tech barbarians and un-resisting targets.

When you try to use them against a high tech opponent, said opponent will electronically knock them out of the sky.

Wide area jamming will work even if they find some way to avoid GPS signal spoofing.
 

I think a little twist on "old school" would work pretty well too.
