Starting on Monday -- Facebook is Doing it Too Facebook's giving 90 million dollars to mainstream media networks in order to create original content that is streamed exclusively on Facebook and it's all kicking off this coming Monday July 16th. If you saw yesterday's video you'll know that YouTube is paying 25 million dollars to mainstream media networks and pretend news channels in order to produce content for YouTube to flood the platform with liberal propaganda, and Facebook is doing the same thing ... but upping the ante and spending almost a hundred million dollars!  Facebook's first wave of funded news shows will debut July 16th with more on the way.   Facebook's multi-million dollar investment in news programming from brand name TV networks and digital media companies will go live next week and the social giant has announced another half dozen news shows that its funding starting Monday July 16th.  Programming from CNN Fox News Univision ABC and others will be featured in a dedicated news section in Facebook.   The first lineup of shows from news publishers include those from ABC News Advance,  CNN,  Fox New, and Univision.  Facebook will bring out additional news shows from ABC own stations Bloomberg, BuzzFeed news McClatchy group 9 media. Guess which is the only Fox News show that's gonna be streaming on Facebook's new feature ....  its Fox News Update with host Shepard Smith. If you're not familiar with Shepard Smith, he's on during the daytime and belongs on CNN. GOOGLE Gaming Waiting to be Unplugged Everybody knows (sme don't care) that Google, by virtue of their deep liberal bias, are a bigger threat to our democracy than the drive-by media. Here's a new example I 've not read about.  If you use Google Chrome browser, and I do, you know that when you open a new window there are conveniently placed your most used "click-to" sites.  Starting about a month ago I noticed that, of a sudden, my icons reflected sites that I may have only visited one time?  Slowly I realized [Duh] that sites that no longer appeared were my most visited.  Conspicuous by their absence are Free Republic and  Drudge, by far my most visited sites.  In addition, sites like Legal Insurrection, Brietbart, and Front Page, which I visit often, have never once been included.  That this began just as a panicked Media, going nuts over Trump's popularity, went into full regimental attack mode is no coincidence. Aside: I won't get into why I don't do You Tube videos anymore.

QUACK QUACK While I was preparing to bring Duck Duck to y'all's attention (because it advertises itself as "The search engine that doesn't track you," I thought what the hell, let's see how good it is at searching.  In the eleven years or so that I've used Blogger, I've posted exactly 32,047 times on Curmudgeonly & Skeptical.    It would be fair to say that at least 20,000 of them used my on-again-off-again blog description "If you're trying to change minds and influence people it's probably not a good idea to say that virtually all elected Democrats are liars, but what the hell."  I coined it, and it's been accessed well over 6 million times. I posted the results in the scroll box below. The quack answer is that C&S received no credits.  Not one.  Not just from Duck Duck, but from no search engine.  Duck- Duck, and all but Google and Dogpile, did mention C&S posts I made during the few years I posted using my own Terpsboy.com server.  But, nothing from Google (which owns Blogger for chrissake!). In those 32,047 posts, it would be fair to say that, at a minimum, 32,047 pictures were published.  I'll posit that about 90% were original, or value added.  It has not been lost on me that, given the number of times I use Google image search a day, I've never seen any of my stuff.  I do run across some Terpsboy pictures, some even attributed; but no Bloggers.   I am not, by the way, making any claims to greatness, far from it.  I am suggesting that Google uses it's muscle discriminately.  One of the first things that happened after Google purchased Blogger was that C&S was shut down.  The excuse was I was accused of something or other.  I had been under attack from lefty blogs who made it a habit to accuse people they disagreed with of being liars, inciting to riot and too stupid to be allowed to use machinery.  It wasn't until Linda SoG made it something of a personal crusade that I was allowed back.  On the bright side, perhaps my guardian angel has engineered this "shield of anonymity" as a way to protect me from Obama hit men.  RELATED Exclusive: How Google’s Algorithm Rules the Web CRAP

This week's outrage comes to us from a rather unlikely source:  the Google Play app store.  The new app is called the Gun Geo Marker, and encourages users to "geolocate dangerous guns and owners" in their communities. According to Google Play, "Geolocation means marking dangerous sites on the App's map so that you and others can be aware of the risks in your neighborhood."  Think about that for a minute.  The purpose of the app--other than sensationalism and profit--is to encourage people to anonymously "flag" locations in their community they subjectively deem "dangerous" and to make that information as public as possible.  The probability for abuse and the certainty of inaccurate "reporting" cannot be overstated.  What's to keep people from marking any location for any reason at all?  Nothing.  The practice is not only a serious invasion of privacy, but would also be just as dangerous and irresponsible as publishing the names of concealed-carry permit holders in local papers.  The app could enable thieves to target and steal firearms from law-abiding gun owners, while conversely advertising that other residences are "gun free" and therefore easy targets for criminals.  [Full] Of course it will also let yeggs pick safe targets to burgle.  The real outrage is of course that Google is again facilitating the Fascist Left's ambition to have a dossier on every American.  It will take the average semi educated, and somewhat observant person, about 2 ms to recognize why they'd want these "controls."   Since Tom Mann sent me this earlier,  I've been trying to find  another  Blog program that I can  implement myself, without having to devote my life to it, and still maintain the look and feel of C&S over the past 10 years.  Makes me shudder, but I am determined to divorce myself entirely from Google Inc, even if it means getting out of the business.  ”

I just found Google's fast flip which, somewhat like the Firefox add-on Coolpreviews, lets you view news articles, but in slide show fashion.  Choosing "Politics," I learned from Robert Gates, via the New York Times, that Obama did Poland, Czechoslovakia and Europe a big favor by welshing on missile defense.  Moving forward, it struck me that all of the news worth reading, according to fast flip, comes from the New York Times, Washington Post, BBC, and Salon.  But wait .. you can add more sources from these selections, including the Daily Beast?!? “   Sign in to select which sources appear on the frontpage. Welcome to BlindSearch, the search engine taste test.

I welcomed the arrival of bing, Microsoft's "answer" to GOOGLE search.  Not because GOOGLE is flawed, but because it's so good that everyone uses it.  That could be a problem in this information age, if it became enthralled by one ideology, and that's precisely what I see happening.  Moveon.org and Kos mastered the art of manipulating which stories appear at the top of search results, and Google is top heavy with lefties.  Blah-blah, that aside, Blind Search asks for your input, and delivers the results from Google, Bing, and Yahoo, in changing column order.   Pick the list that best satisfies you, and the search engine is revealed.  To test it, I used "ACORN."  I'm guessing here, but that guess is that 95% of all ACORN queries are looking for information concerning charges of improper voter registrations, or other criminality. Just my opinion. My results were: Yahoo yielded two hits, Inside Obama's Acorn by Stanley Kurtz on National Review Online, and  Rotten ACORN :: Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now.  But they appeared 6th and 7th in the list of results. Bing produced one, the Stanley Kurtz article, but as the seventh entry. Google - No negative ACORN hits in the displayed list. In real life, I use the GROOWE search bar that lets me scroll through all search engines.  Bing has been the default for 10 days, or so, with Google option two.  Bing claims to make intelligent choices, and in practice it reminds me of  letting TIVO guess what to record for you. Poop.  I find myself going to Google about half the time, but that may be because I'm not that comfortable with Bing's interface and display yet.  See what you think.  I plucked this off Drudge, but haven't read it.
