The Confederate Battle Flag

Beating Dead Horses Because They Aren't Really Dead
should be, but they ain't

The Confederate Battle Flag
Clinton-Gore Sign, 1992
(actual)

This fairly sums up my feelings on the subject, evenbegrudginglythe "good neighbor" part (with the caveat that their current dudgeon is entirely due to ignorance).  And,  I must once again invoke  Shelby Foote.

Once the flag is gone, the left will advance to the next issue then the next issue, etc. They won’t compromise. There is no compromise. There is only conversion or censorship with the left.

But I also think if you proudly fly the Confederate battle flag and call yourself a Christian, you need to ask yourself how you are being a good neighbor to the black family down the street, next door, or on the other side of town whose ancestors were enslaved under that flag and whose parents or grandparents faced down white men in the streets waving that flag as an act of rebellion against voting rights.

None of this really matters though. Because the issue is now politicized, you might as well buy stock in companies that produce the Confederate battle flag. They’re going to get a lot of orders from people who equate raising the stars and bars with raising the middle finger toward liberals up north.  [The Confederate Battle Flag]

Karen Finney Drowning

Where do MSNBC find these people?

Res Ipsa Loquitor

This is just TOO precious.  I just commented about the Democrat Party's long association with the Communist party, and look what pops up. HUGH HEWITT interviews Karen Finney, long time voice of the Democratic National Committee, now the host of a weekend show on MSNBC,

HH: Karen, welcome, good to have you on, thank you for coming. Now I caught some of your show this weekend. I want to play the intro to your segment about Ted Cruz.

FINNEY AUDIO: In case you haven’t heard, Texas Senator Ted Cruz is a man on a mission. He wants to take away your health care, even if that means bringing down our government, or a war within the GOP. But Cruz’ rhetoric isn’t just detrimental to his party. It’s contributing to a broader environment of paranoia that could have very real consequences for our democracy. The fear stoking is reminiscent of another Senator, a man from Wisconsin on his own mission. He also wanted to take his country back. Then, it was from the Communists who had supposedly infiltrated it. His name, of course? Joe McCarthy. And while Cruz’ mission this time around might be different, the rhetoric sounds eerily the same.

HH: Now Karen Finney, a couple of questions.

 KF: Sure.

HH: Number one, when you said about Joe McCarthy he wanted to take it back from the Communists who had supposedly infiltrated, did any Communists infiltrate the United States government?

KF: Well, I think if we go back to the McCarthy hearings, it’s pretty clear that he A) created, you know, a culture of paranoia and fear that people later recognized was, you know, people sort of bought into it, and then recognized that it was absolutely misplace. I mean, that’s the point.

HH: But Karen, did any Communists infiltrate our government?

KF: Please, go ahead and name them.

HH: Well, can you name them? I’m trying to figure out if you know if any of them did?

KF: Here’s the point. No, there weren’t Communists who infiltrated our government. I mean, that’s like Michele Bachmann accusing my friend, Huma Abedin, of actually being Muslim Brotherhood, because…

HH: No, actually, it’s not.

KF: …she may have known somebody ..... .

Here's the transcript; it's a fast read, and a hoot.  (Finney gets so twisted up in her panties that she doesn't know if she's talking or farting)  Or, here's the full audio

Finney's too young to have witnessed the history, but so what?  It's why she went to school, right? What?  You say that, in 2001 New York University launched a Web site dedicated to the proposition that the late Alger Hiss was innocent. The Venona Files be damned!  Oh my.  I'm not even sure that Nation Magazine have ever conceded.  This insistence that they are never wrong is the hallmark of Liberalism, and now, the Democrat Party.

Who are these people?

This is what I been talking about ...

Res Ipsa Loquitur

I was avoiding writing this morning, and instead of cleaning my desk or sharpening pencils, I did a little calculating and figured out that on September 6th or so of this year (give or take a day or two, because of the various leap years) Jimmy Carter will have lived longer since LEAVING office than any other president in history.
Res Ipsa Loquitur

Right now, Herbert Hoover holds the record at 31 years, 7 months and 16 days.

That Carter should achieve this record — which I expect and hope he will — is especially providential, in that he has been an exceptional former president.  [alien maximuim strength dick named Mick]

Well, Jummy has been  exceptional So too the SF CHRON.  Don't make me say it.

College Free Speech Horror Stories

Res Ipsa Loquitur

We all have Liberal friends, family members, neighbors and colleagues,  and find them, for the most part, to be quite agreeable people.  It's often said of them,  in eulogy, "he would give you the shirt off his back."  Sigh.  Good old Fred.  But, Fred also wanted to give you my  shirt too.  Demanded it, as a matter of fact.

Over an almost full lifetime I have concluded, as did Mrs.Thatcher, that Liberals like helping others so much that they endeavor to keep us  in the position of needing it. To the Liberal, government's raison d'être is maintaining the social order of things.  All things.  Keeping an even economic keel is the key, because there is only so much wealth, it being finite, and some would accumulate more than they could spend in .. a month?  Liberals do see as an impediment, if not a heresy,  having the failure of their social models thrown back in their faces.  Like Russian communism.  By and by then,  they have developed  an aversion to free speech.   Which is why we are here at this precise moment.

.Brandeis University delivered a stunning performance when it disciplined Professor Donald Hindley, a nearly 50-year veteran of teaching, for denouncing the use of the term “wetbacks” in his Latin American Politics course. Of course, Hindley had to actually say the word in order to criticize its use. This was a major mistake, as minor details like logic and reason did not prevent Brandeis from declaring him guilty of racial harassment and placing a monitor in his class, all without a formal hearing or written notice of the actual accusations against him. Thankfully, Brandeis has a new president; let’s hope he sees fit to end this embarrassment by reversing Hindley’s harassment finding.

And that, dear fellows, is but one example from  The top 12 worst colleges for free speech.

Reagan couldn't what?

Today's GOP could snub even Reagan
The party has become so conservative that Whitman and Poizner would call the iconic Republican 'just another liberal politician.'

Boned Jello

If  the Liberal brain was wired to comprehend war, free markets, or Ronald Reagan, they wouldn't be Liberals. They ought then steer clear of those areas.  An assertion that Renaldo Maximus could not get elected, let alone get the Republican nomination today, is as far as any reader needs to go.  Unless the reader is looking to poke the author in the eye with a sharp stick dipped in Obama feces. Ahem.  A commenter here recently attributed to Thomas Sowell this anecdote.

When asked what he would like to explain to Liberals, he replied "Nothing because they would not listen anyway."

Solder that.  Another commenter to this LATIMES revisionist heap, freedml, nevertheless gives it a never-say-die try.

freedml at 6:32 AM June 07, 2010

Ridiculous premise, George.  So what if spending ballooned with Reagan as Governor.  When compared with the growth of the state at the time, the increases would be mostly automatic, the remainder being explained by the legislature's penchant for spending.  It's always been tough for a California Governor to reign in spending.  And, as for spending as President, expanding  defense spending leading to the self-destruction of our greatest enemy, the Soviet Union, doesn't count.  No matter what, Reagan would still be accused by the liberal media of being asleep at the switch for taking naps and of being a Simpleton for his clear view of 'right and wrong.'  If you want to attack a Republican for not being Conservative, any other Republican President in the last generation or two would be a much better choice.

Nobel Peace Prize stuff, that.
