ThisPeriod of Phony War

der Sitzkrieg

I see going on today something similar to the period in Europe called the "Phony War." Those early days of WWII  characterized by very little actual fighting and a whole lot of chest thumping.  The killing came soon enough.  My seeming bellicosity is not aimed at roiling people's blood, although roiling it should be. No, it's a product of my coming to terms with events since 2008. Maddening.

I've learned enough history to feel justified saying that there is no possible road to rapprochement with the Left.  Not that I can find.  I often (now) envision myself delivering large bursts from a mini-gun into groups like Media Matters.  It's like having illicit sex though—   eighty-six seconds of thrill  followed by a lifetime of misery. It will be Hell.

We oughta be casing his joint

WHAT A FARCE
Where Big Fur Hat speaks for the nation

Casing the Joint
Bestowing an honor upon bin Laden, through his quick Islamic burial, is the equivalent of Obama bowing to him. This is a humiliation. A desecration of his body was not necessary, but neither was a “careful handling of his body paying respect to Islamic practices.”

bin Laden bastardized Islamic teachings, no? Isn’t that what we’ve been told?

If I was a devout Christian, and Hitler’s body was brought to America and given a funeral adhering to the full practices of a Christian tradition, I would be appalled.

Who would have been offended if bin Laden was thrown in a pine box and burned? Muslims? What sort of Muslims? [Full]
Tain't nothing I can add.

Code Pinkery at its worst

I Get E-Mail

Subject: Whose side are we on in Egypt?

Code Pinker Medea Benjamin

Dear Friend,

Blah-Blah-Blah

Will you make a generous donation now to support the pro-democracy movement in Egypt?

People around the US are asking, what can we do that will make a difference?  How can we send a signal that the world is watching, the world is with the people of Egypt?  We've signed petitions and tweeted our eyeballs out.  Now what?

Will you donate $5 today to help buy flowers?
This is one way we around the world can support the nonviolent people's uprising.

We have met with dozens of women and groups in Cairo and these women and our CODEPINK delegation on the ground in Egypt are asking this:

Help us raise $5,000 in emergency funds today to support the Egyptian revolution!

Beyond solidarity, the best way we can show our support for the Egyptian uprising is to demand that our own government cut off aid to the Mubarak regime. Join us in telling President Obama, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and the U.S. Congress to stop funding the Mubarak regime now, to call on Mubarak to resign, and to expressly say that our government stands with the Egyptian people.

The Egyptian people are writing a beautiful chapter in the history of nonviolent revolutions. Let's show them we are on their side.

Send flowers and supplies to the demonstrators!

support the nonviolent people's uprising.?!?
When a group like Code Pink, which affiliates with every America-hating group in the world, and openly promotes that American soldiers kill their officers and join the other side ... well,  the leaders ought be subject to a shoot-on-sight warrant.  But they're not, which is another example of us confusing freedom of speech with  treason.  Anyway,  I don't know for sure that  Code Pink is responsible for this  piece of agitprop, but  it certainly has their smell, and it is their message.  Most striking is the presumption of gullibility it carries.  Are people really that stupid?

About those dirty nukes

 al-Qaeda is planning dirty nukes

I'm certain in my own mind that things could never have reached this point under any of the last 5 elected Republican presidents (Ike, Nixon, Reagan, Bush, and Bush); but  is the legacy of the last 5 Democrats (Kennedy, Johnson, Carter, Clinton and Obama).  Since Obama has control right now, making threats is useless, because everyone knows he would never follow-up.  Actually, without Obama and Democrats in Congress, there would be no unmanageable threat in the first instance.

Too bad I'm not in charge.  Because I would tell the Islamic world this.  If one violent act is perped against the United States, the 100 biggest mosques in the world will be reduced to rubble in an instant. For starters. Knowing that I will most certainly keep my word, the Islamic world, the sane part if there is such a thing, will turn on the al-Qaedas, Talibans, and Iran from within. I will also water-board the crap out of anyone who can supply information that would thwart an attack aborning,  But, I'm not the president.  So, this is, for you, like buying a lottery ticket.  A few days of fantasy; then disappointment.

BOMB BOMB BOMB, BOMB IRAN!

Should Israel Bomb Iran?

These fears are mostly overblown. Some of the alarmist scenarios are the opposite of what would more likely unfold after an Israeli attack. Although dangerous for Israel, a preventive strike remains the most effective answer to the possibility of Khamenei and the Revolutionary Guards having nuclear weapons. Provided the Israeli air force is capable of executing it, and assuming no U.S. military action, an Israeli bombardment remains the only conceivable means of derailing or seriously delaying Iran’s nuclear program and—equally important—traumatizing Tehran.

Killing Putin

All our prollems solved.  All.

Boned Jello

Jimmy Carter's executive order making assassination of a foreign leader a crime was of course self serving, meant to save his own sorry ass from the retribution hit.  I don't care.  Putin, Chavez and Ahmadinejad need killing.
